Three-Day New York Giants Rookie Mini-Camp Starts Today: The New York Giants three-day rookie mini-camp will begin today at the Meadowlands for the seven Giants drafted in the 2006 NFL Draft last month as well as approximately 20 other undrafted rookie free agents. Some of the latter have already signed contracts with the Giants (14 of whom have been verified by the NFLPA – see “News and Notes” updates for May 5, 6, and 10). There will also be a few second-year veterans on hand.

“I’m really anxious to see (wide receiver) Anthony Mix,” General Manager Ernie Accorsi said of one of undrafted free agents. “That was a guy who kind of fell between the cracks. They had two receivers at Auburn who were drafted, so he didn’t get to play that much; he went to the Senior Bowl and dominated it. We went over him and over him and almost drafted him in the seventh round. We really went hard after him in the post-draft thing.”

There will be two practices today and two on Monday. On Sunday, the players will be off for Mother’s Day other than lifting weights in the morning.
