Giants Sign Junior Ioane; Former Pro Personnel Director Jim Trimble Passes Away

New York Giants Sign Defensive Tackle Junior Ioane: The Giants have officially signed DT Junior Ioane, who has spent time with the Raiders (2000-02) and Texans (2003-05).

Former New York Giants Pro Personnel Director Jim Trimble Passes Away: Jim Trimble, who served as the Giants’ offensive line coach under Allie Sherman and then the team’s pro personnel director from 1969-1981, passed away on Tuesday from emphysema. He was 88.

Trimble also served the Giants as a consultant for more than a decade after 1981.

“Jim Trimble was one of the most beloved employees we have ever had here,” said Giants’ President and CEO John Mara. “He served in many capacities from coaching to scouting to pro personnel. He could be as gruff and as tough an individual you would ever want to meet. But behind all of that was one of the kindest, most decent people you would ever hope to meet. He was a great friend to everybody who knew him in this organization and made many valuable contributions here over the years. He will be sorely missed.”

“He would always talk about his work with the Giants as the peak of his career,” said Trimble’s son Jim. “He held a number of positions with the Giants for many years. He had a great relationship with Wellington Mara. They were approximately the same age, they were both in the Navy and they were both products of the 1940s and 50s NFL and the league’s growth in that era. He simply adored Well.”
