New York Giants Cut OG Zach Piller: The Giants waived OG Zach Piller yesterday.

New York Giants Claim OG/OT Kevin Boothe and CB Devonte Edwards Off of Waivers: The Giants have claimed OG/OT Kevin Boothe off of waivers from the Oakland Raiders and CB Dovonte Edwards off of waivers from the Minnesota Vikings.

Boothe was drafted in the 6th round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Raiders and started 14 games for Oakland at right guard as a rookie. In college, at Cornell, Boothe played at right guard and both tackle spots.

Edwards was originally signed by the Vikings as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2005 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he played in 12 games, accrued 17 tackles and returned one interception for a 51-yard touchdown. Edwards was placed on Injured Reserve before the 2006 season started with a broken arm.

Place Kicker to Visit the Giants: According to press reports, PK Dave Rayner, who was waived by the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, will visit the Giants soon for a workout and physical. The Packers had tried to trade Rayner to the Giants for HB Ryan Grant, but New York obtained Green Bay’s 6th round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft instead.

Giants Sign Players to the Practice Squad: The Giants have added the following four players to the Practice Squad. All four were waived by the Giants on Saturday.

  • WR Brandon London
  • OG/OC Matt Lentz
  • DE Marquies Gunn
  • CB E.J. Underwood

The Giants have room to add four more players to the Practice Squad.

Notes: S J.R. Reed, who the Giants waived on Saturday, signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

PK Josh Huston, who the Giants waived on Saturday, is visiting Kansas City. Ironically, it was Kansas City that traded Lawrence Tynes to the Giants for a conditional 7th round draft pick.
