September 5, 2007 New York Giants Injury Report – CB Sam Madison Returns to Practice: CB Sam Madison (hamstring) returned to practice yesterday. “Sam did a lot,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “He did pretty much a full turn (on Wednesday). That is close enough. He worked right until the end. We will have to see how he does and how he is (on Thursday).”

“If it was my decision, you know how I love to play,” said Madison. “But I don’t make those decisions. The guys that have been playing while I haven’t been here have been doing a very good job. Am I 100 percent right now? I don’t know. I can’t say because I haven’t opened it up 100 percent yet because I don’t have to right now. I don’t want to set myself back and then we will be scrambling down the road.”

“If I play, I am pretty much going to be 100 percent,” Madison said. “I don’t want to have the letdown that I had last year – thinking I was 100 percent and I wasn’t 100 percent and then I missed a few more games. I am just trying to be smart about the whole situation and I think that the guys that we have in place have been doing a very good job the past few weeks. If I can get a little more rest and become 100 percent, that is always a positive. Then we have some different things that we can do with our personnel. Since Friday, I have been pushing it pretty hard. There has been no pain or anything in there, so now we just want to go out and see what type of agility I have. I did that (on Wednesday) and it was very positive and hopefully the same thing happens (on Thursday). I can come back and feel as healthy as I am and continue to try to help this team in whatever capacity I can.”

LB Kawika Mitchell (groin) also continued to practice. “He did everything, too,” said Coughlin.

“I was a little rusty (on Tuesday), but (Wednesday) was a step better and hopefully (Thursday) will be better than that,” said Mitchell. “Physically I felt great. There wasn’t any pulling at all.”

Aside from Madison and Mitchell, fully practicing were CB Kevin Dockery (hamstring), DE Adrian Awasom (hip), and OC Grey Ruegamer (ankle).

OT Guy Whimper (ankle) was limited in practice.

Not practicing yesterday were WR David Tyree (wrist), FB Robert Douglas (knee), and LB Gerris Wilkinson (knee). All three players have been declared out for the game against Dallas.

Quotes: LB Antonio Pierce on team chemistry: “In my three years of being here, this is the best team chemistry we’ve had coming out of camp and just the whole spring. Everything we do is team-oriented…We’re doing things on and off the field we haven’t done. That’s what’s key. You have to know the guy next to you better than anybody else. It’s more together and you can just sense it. Guys talk to each other. The offensive players talk to the defensive players and vice versa. Before that, it was kind of segregated.”

HB Brandon Jacobs on the Giants-Cowboys game: “I think we’re going to go to Dallas this Sunday and whup their asses.”
