Giants Cut WR Anthony Mix; Sign WR Domenik Hixon: The Giants yesterday waived WR Anthony Mix and signed WR Domenik Hixon.
Hixon was waived by the Denver Broncos on Tuesday. He was originally drafted by the Broncos in the 4th round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Hixon spent the 2006 season on Denver’s Injured/Non-Football Injury List with a left foot injury that he suffered before the draft. In four regular season games this year, Hixon struggled as a returner, averaging 22.8 yards per kickoff return and 4.6 yards per punt return. He did not catch a pass for the Broncos.
Because of these moves, we have updated the Free Agent Signings (includes scouting report on Hixon), Roster, and Depth Chart sections of the website.
Injury Update: Though sore, the MRI on RG Chris Snee showed no damage. He practiced yesterday on a limited basis. CB Sam Madison, who injured his shoulder against the Eagles and who also had an MRI, did not appear on the injury report and practiced fully.
HB Brandon Jacobs (knee) practiced fully. HB Derrick Ward (ankle) practiced on a limited basis.
FS Gibril Wilson (hip) did not practice.
DE Michael Strahan sat out of practice with a sore knee, but he is expected to practice today.
As has been the case, WR Plaxico Burress (ankle) did not practice. WR Steve Smith (shoulder) has not been cleared to practice and has already been ruled out of the Jets game.
LB Chase Blackburn nearly had an eardrum ruptured after the Eagles game when a reporter bumped into him while he was cleaning his ear with a cotton swab. Blackburn lost partial hearing in the ear, which bled. It is believed his hearing will return.
