Surgery for Shockey – Injured Left Leg and Ankle

Giants Place Shockey on Injured Reserve; Sign Tight End from Practice Squad:  The Giants have placed TE Jeremy Shockey on Injured Reserve.  Head Coach Tom Coughlin indicated that the injury to Shockey was not actually just to his leg, but his ankle as well.  He will have surgery later this week.  "Well, it is the fibula, but the ankle is also an issue," said Coughlin.

"He’s energetic all the time, especially in situations where stuff isn’t going right," said CB Sam Madison. "We’re going to miss his energy."

The Giants have also signed TE Jerome Collins from the Practice Squad.  Because of this move, we have updated the Roster, Depth Chart, and Transactions sections of the website.  A write-up on Collins is also available in the Roster Analysis section of the website.

Giants Playoff Scenarios:  The Giants will make the playoffs this weekend if one of the two results occur:

  1. Giants win or tie against Bills OR
  2. Redskins lose or tie plus Saints lose or tie

Injury Report – Moss Hurt Again:  Other than Shockey, the only other injury mentioned by Coughlin during his press conference was the one to injury-prone WR Sinorice Moss.  "Yeah, he strained a muscle in his back," said Coughlin.  "We will know more tomorrow after we see him for a couple of days."

OC Shaun O’Hara on the 2007 Giants:  "We’ve got to start playing better football. Getting into the playoffs is fine and dandy but if you’re not playing well, if your play doesn’t really dictate you deserving to be there that’s probably something that’s gonna bother you more than anything. We’ve got to start playing like a playoff team and stop saying we got another chance."
