Giants and Chris Snee Agree to Contract Extension:  The Giants and RG Chris Snee have agreed to a 6-year contract extension that keeps Snee under contract through the 2014 season.

The deal has not been officially signed yet or announced by the team.  The Star-Ledger is reporting that the new contract will make Snee one of the top five highest-paid guards in the NFL, earning Snee about $7 million per season.

The starting offensive line is now signed through at least the 2011 season.

Three More Draft Picks Signed:  The Giants have officially announced that they have signed the following 2008 NFL Draft picks: LB Bryan Kehl (4th round),  LB Jonathan Goff (5th round), and QB  Andre’ Woodson (6th round).

The Giants signed DE Robert Henderson (6th round) last week.

Remaining unsigned are S Kenny Phillips (1st round), CB Terrell Thomas (2nd round), and WR Mario Manningham (3rd round).

Strahan Recommends Giants Ditch Shockey:  At the press event yesterday announcing Michael Strahan becoming a member of FOX Sports NFL pre-game show, Strahan shared his thoughts on the TE Jeremy Shockey situation:

“It’s a situation where he doesn’t want to be here; he doesn’t want to play here,” said Strahan.  “That’s obvious with everything that’s going on.  I don’t think you really gain much by keeping a guy around, regardless of how well he plays for you, there’s always that tension and that’s one thing you can’t have if you’re expected to go back and repeat and have a team that’s going to get everything you expect out of them.

“You can’t have that tension.  You have to have guys there who are happy to be there, not someone who is there and doing his job and no doubt he’d do his job very well, but you just don’t need that extra in the locker room, especially since he is one of the older guys, one of the leaders.  You don’t need that out of one of your leaders.

“So I think the best thing for them and for Shockey is if they have the opportunity, let him go.  You read the paper; you know it’s like that.  I’m not telling you anything that’s a secret.  He doesn’t want to be there.”
