Giants Will Battle Eagles in NFC Divisional Round: The NFL Champion New York Giants will face the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round. The game will be played at Giants Stadium at 1:00PM on Sunday, January 11th.
The Eagles are the only team to have defeated the Giants at home in 2008. The Eagles have also won five out of their last six games.
“I think the Eagles are the hottest team in the NFL right now,” said DE Justin Tuck. “They may be the sixth seed, but they sure aren’t playing like it. We know them well, which is a good thing, but they know us well, too. I’m glad this game is going to be at home because I know our fans will be into it. It’s going to be the tough NFC East battle you’d expect, and we are really looking forward to it.”
“We are excited to get to work this week,” said QB Eli Manning. “We need a good week of practice and preparation because it’s about execution at this time of year, especially against a team we face twice a year in games that always seem to come down to the fourth quarter.”
This is the fourth time the Giants and the Eagles have faced each other in the playoffs. The other times followed the 1981 season (Giants win), 2000 season (Giants win), and 2006 season (Eagles win).
Monday Injury Update: The Giants did not practice yesterday and will not today. Both days will be spent on film work and strength training/conditioning. The Giants return to practice on Wednesday and the Giants will not be required to issue an official injury report until that day.
“I said I’m not sure about (who might not be practicing) until Wednesday,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “We still have a couple of guys that will be potentially limited or maybe out, depending on what the medical people tell me. So we won’t know that until Wednesday.”
