Giants Tell Toomer It’s Time to Move On?: According to The Star-Ledger, an unidentified source has told the paper that the Giants have notified WR Amani Toomer they are not likely to re-sign him. Toomer is currently scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on February 27th unless the Giants re-sign him before then.

Giants Attempting to Recoup Money from Burress; Players Union Files Grievance: According to FOXSports.com, the Giants are in the process of trying to recoup millions of dollars from the contract they gave WR Plaxico Burress immediately before the start of the 2008 NFL season. FoxSports.com reports the Giants contend Burress defaulted on his contract as a result of his off-the-field actions, including the incident in November where Burress accidentally shot himself in a Manhattan nightclub. Apparently the Giants sent Burress a letter in December 2008 saying they were trying to recoup and withhold previous bonus money and future compensation that could reach several million dollars. In response, the NFL Players Union has filed a grievance against the Giants.

Giants Have Roughly $10 Million in Cap Room?: According to The Star-Ledger, the Giants are appoximately $10 million underneath the 2009 salary cap. However, the paper says the Giants can easily create more cap space by re-structuring contracts or cutting players.
