Whew! Hakeem Nicks OK: WR Hakeem Nicks was sent to New York yesterday to undergo a second MRI and exam on his injured right knee. After both, the Giants issued the following statement:

“Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks hyperextended his right knee at the end of yesterday afternoon’s practice. Nicks underwent an MRI in Albany last night and another at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in Manhattan this morning. He was examined by team physician Dr. Russell Warren at HSS. The tests and exam showed nothing out of the ordinary with Nicks’ knee. Nicks, who is currently practicing once a day as he comes back from offseason toe surgery, could possibly return to the practice field as early as (Thursday).”

Giants Not Interested in Plaxico Burress: According to The Star-Ledger, an unidentified team official told the paper that the Giants are not currently interested in re-signing WR Plaxico Burress when he is released from prison.

The New York Post had reported that the Giants would “investigate” bringing back Burress. The Ledger says while this is the Giants’ public stance, the team really is not interested.
