On Washington’s second possession, the Redskins did manage to move the ball from their own 20-yard line to the Giants’ 24-yard line. But there the drive stalled and Washington missed the 43-yard field goal attempt.

The Giants went three-and-out near the end of the the first quarter when Bradshaw was stuffed on 3rd-and-1. The Redskins picked up two first downs and punted. The Giants then drove from their 19 to the Redskins’ 4-yard line, but New York came up empty when Manning’s pass intended for Boss was intercepted in the end zone. The Giants’ defense got the ball back right away as CB Terrell Thomas forced a fumble that was recovered by LB Keith Bulluck and returned to the Redskins’ 39-yard line. Five plays later, Bradshaw scored from 10 yards out.

The Redskins got no further than midfield on their final possession of the first half. At halftime, the Giants led 21-0.

Neither team could move the football on each of their first two possessions of the third quarter. On Washington’s third possession, DE Dave Tollefson forced QB Donovan McNabb to fumble.
