Injury Update – Steve Smith Has Knee Injury That May End His Season: The Daily News is reporting that WR Steve Smith does not have a hamstring injury, but a tear to the meniscus cartilage in one of his knees. If severe enough, the injury could end Smith’s season. One unidentified source told the paper, “This does not look good for him at all.”

When Head Coach Tom Coughlin was asked about Smith and WR Mario Manningham (hip flexor) yesterday, it was assumed by the press that Smith had a hamstring injury. “They’re undergoing MRIs and tests right now,” said Coughlin. “Both (players are) sore.”

No word yet on the severity of Manningham’s injury.

As expected, the news was not good on LB Clint Sintim, who injured his knee against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. Sintim tore his ACL and will undergo surgery as soon as the swelling goes down in his knee. Sintim will shortly be placed on Injured Reserve.

“(Tuck is) a little sore, but I don’t think anything is going to hold him back,” said Coughlin of DE Justin Tuck who hurt his ribs in the game.

Coughlin was also asked about OC Shaun O’Hara, who did not play against the Vikings. “O’Hara will practice more and we’ll go from there,” said Coughlin. “We’ll see how it is.”

Practice Squad Move: According to The Star-Ledger, the Giants have signed LB Kenny Ingram to the Practice Squad. The Giants originally signed Ingram as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2009 NFL Draft. He did not make the team but was added to the Practice Squad in December 2009. The Giants waived him in July 2010.

No word yet on who was released from the Practice Squad to make room for Ingram.

Notes: After Monday night’s win against the Minnesota Vikings, the Giants gave the game ball to Kelvin Thomas, a 13-year old who is battling lymphoma. A video of the event is available at NFL.com.
