Prince Amukamara Breaks Foot, Will Undergo Surgery: Giants’ first-round draft pick CB Prince Amukamara fractured the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot yesterday in his second practice with the Giants. He will undergo surgery to have a screw inserted in the foot and be sidelined for an undetermined period. Last season, LT Will Beatty suffered a similar injury and was sideline for two months.
TE Ben Patrick Retires: In a very odd move, 26-year old TE Ben Patrick, who may have been penciled in as the Giants’ #1 tight end with the loss of TE Kevin Boss to the Raiders, decided to retire yesterday. His decision leaves the Giants in bad shape at the tight end position with only Bear Pascoe, Jake Ballard, Travis Beckum, and Christian Hopkins as candidates. Pascoe performed better at fullback than tight end last season and Beckum really is more of an H-Back than true tight end.
Patrick was officially placed on the reserve/retired list.
Training Camp Practice Reports: Practices continue at Giants Training Camp at the Timex Performance Center outside the New Meadowlands Stadium. BBI camp reports and the camp schedule are available in the Training Camp section of the website. In addition, check out the following:
