Giants Tell Buccaneers They Can’t Talk to Kevin Gilbride, Jr.: According to press reports, the Giants have refused a request from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to interview Kevin Gilbride, Jr., the team’s offensive quality control coach and son of Offensive Coordinator Kevin Gilbride. The Buccaneers were interested in Gilbride as their new quarterbacks coach.

Earlier this month, the Giants allowed to the Buccaneers to interview and hire Quarterbacks Coach Mike Sullivan as Tampa’s new offensive coordinator. That position on the Giants remains vacant, as does the assistant offensive line position. The Giants lost Jack Bicknell, Jr. to the Chiefs earlier this month.

The Giants have refused other teams permission to speak with assistants after previous seasons. The Daily News reports that several teams were denied permission to speak with Cornerbacks Coach Peter Giunta. In addition, former Giants’ Quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer was denied the chance to interview for at least one offensive coordinator job before he retired from the NFL.
