Cruz Says Nicks Will Be Ready for Opener, Not Camp: A few weeks ago, WR Hakeem Nicks optimistically predicted he would be able to return from his offseason foot surgery near the start or during training camp. The Giants had originally said it would be closer to the start of the regular season. It sounds like Nicks’ new target is closer to the Giants’ original prediction.
“(Nicks) looks good,” said WR Victor Cruz on Friday. “He’s walking again on his own so that’s definitely a good sign. He told me he’ll be ready and he told me he’ll take training camp to continue rehabbing and continue to get his foot back right, but I definitely expect him to be ready by game one.”
Thomas Says He’s Been Cleared to Practice: CB Terrell Thomas, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees last preseason, says his doctor has cleared him for practice at training camp. It remains to be seen, however, what the Giants’ doctors and trainers think.
“I just left the doctor’s office; I am all cleared for camp,” said Thomas. “I have no limitations entering camp; obviously they will be monitoring me throughout camp. It will be in the hands of (Head Trainer) Ronnie Barnes who has been protecting me thus far.”
