Injury Report – Nicks Begins Running Routes: Not practicing yesterday were HB Da’Rel Scott (thigh), OT Will Beatty (back), OT James Brewer (back), DE Justin Trattou (ankle), LB Jacquian Williams (hip), LB Jake Muasau (hamstring), CB Terrell Thomas (knee), WR Hakeem Nicks (PUP – foot), TE Travis Beckum (PUP – knee), DT Chris Canty (PUP – knee), and LB Clint Sintim (PUP – knee).

Nicks ran routes and caught the ball on the sidelines during practice. “I start running routes today,” said Nicks before practice. “We’re going to see how that goes…Yesterday, I did some stuff, running in circles, running on the outside of my foot, seeing how it feels. I’ve been doing hills to get my endurance back up. Doing everything necessary to make sure I’m in shape before I step back out there. ”

“Definitely still on target (for the season opener), no setbacks,” said Nicks. “Everything is going well. I’ve been running every day. No setbacks. Feeling good. Getting better…No pain.”

“(Nicks has) been doing them over on the side here, running hoops and that type of thing,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin after practice. “He seems to be doing pretty well at it.”

When asked about Canty, Coughlin responded, “No (setbacks). We’re waiting, he’s got to get there. He’s got to get to where he’s strong enough, and the knee won’t swell. He’s not there yet.”

“(Scott) has a thigh contusion,” said Coughlin. “It’s swollen, and it came up the side of his leg. It’s his second injury. That doesn’t help.”

CB Prince Amukamara (hamstring) and DT Dwayne Hendricks (knee) returned to practice.

Quotes: Head Coach Tom Coughlin on DT Markus Kuhn: “Flashes. He’s a nice sturdy, young man. He’s starving to learn. Very, very good attitude. The kind of guy that we think can be like a sponge. He needs so much information, pretty solid inside. Doesn’t really know a whole lot about pass protection. We have a lot of room to coach him there.”

Coughlin on OT/OG Brandon Mosley: “Inconsistent. He’s had some good plays, yesterday I thought he had a couple real good plays, today I didn’t notice much…Finishing. Getting the job done. I don’t really think he’s a mental error guy. He does have a ways to go.”
