Nicks Activated from PUP: WR Hakeem Nicks (foot) passed his physical yesterday and was activated from the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) List, meaning that Nicks can now return to practice. Nicks fractured the fifth metatarsal of his right foot on May 24 during the team’s second Organized Team Activity (OTA) workout. He had surgery the very next day to insert a screw into the broken bone.
“I’m very excited about (coming off of the PUP),” Nicks said. “They’re letting me know that by the beginning of next week I can start doing some stuff with the team; some individual and stuff like that. They still want me to take it slow and be smart about it. But I feel good about being out there progressing myself with the team slowly but surely.”
“This is an indication that we’re right where we should be,” Nicks said. “We’re on schedule. There have been no setbacks. Thank the Lord for that. I’m just going to take it one step at a time and be out there catching passes from Eli (Manning) and eventually getting our timing back.”
“(The foot) feels good,” said Nicks. “I know it’s probably going to take me getting over it within my head, but that’s going to come with more reps on it and getting those routes down and getting the timing back. Next week, we’ll pick it up a little bit, definitely. We’ll see as the days go by, what they decide to do. But I’m ready to go.”
Injury Report: Not practicing yesterday were WR Hakeem Nicks (foot), WR David Douglas (quad), OT James Brewer (back), OC Jim Cordle (knee), DE Justin Trattou (ankle/heel), DT Shaun Rogers (calf), DT Martin Parker (back), LB Michael Boley (hamstring), LB Jacquian Williams (hip), CB Michael Coe (hamstring), CB Terrell Thomas (knee), TE Travis Beckum (PUP – knee), DT Chris Canty (PUP – knee), and LB Clint Sintim (PUP – knee).
When asked about Boley, Head Coach Tom Coughlin said, “We’re scratching our head on that one. I just keep looking at time going by. It’s not a very good subject.”
Rogers and Parker underwent tests at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City yesterday but Coughlin said he did not yet know the results.
