Two Placed on Injured Reserve: According to Giants.com, the Giants placed two players on Injured Reserve last week who were first waived/injured a day before. The players are DE Justin Trattou and DT Martin Parker. Because of these moves, we have updated the Transactions and Roster sections of the website.
Injury Report – JPP Has Back Spasms: Not practicing yesterday were TE Travis Beckum (PUP – knee), OT Will Beatty (back), OT Brandon Mosley (ankle), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (back), DE Adrian Tracy (hamstring), DT Chris Canty (PUP – knee), DT Marvin Austin (back), DT Shaun Rogers (blood clot), LB Michael Boley (hamstring), CB Terrell Thomas (knee), CB Jayron Hosley (toe), and CB Brandon Bing (hamstring).
Regarding Pierre-Paul, Head Coach Tom Coughlin said, “Back spasms, kept him off his feet…I think it is (usual soreness)…He’s not going to play (against the Bears).”
When Coughlin was asked if he was concerned about Pierre-Paul, he responded, “No, I think it will end up being precautionary based on what we had to do today. Not letting him work. He would have practiced and played (in regular season), but the medical people said this is the best way to go, so that we ensure going forward that he’s going to be OK.”
Coughlin was asked if he had an update on Hosley. “I don’t,” said Coughlin. “I wish I could tell you, but I don’t. He’s sore.”
“I’ve been doing treatment and anything I can to get the muscle along and get the stiffness out,” said Hosley. “I’ve been doing a lot of motion with it, trying to work it out. It’s been going pretty good for these past couple of days. I’m feeling good about it.”
“It’s just something that you got to take day-by-day and do the right thing to get it right,” said Hosley. “Hoping next week (I’ll return), early next week. That’s what we’re shooting for so that’s what I’m working towards.”
S Will Hill did not practice because of a death in the family.
CB Michael Coe (hamstring) returned to practice.

Quotes: Head Coach Tom Coughlin on DT Markus Kuhn: “He’s a tough kid. He has great energy. He’s there every day, you can see every second. He plays hard, he’s got a lot to learn, but there are no obstacles in terms of his desire to be good and the time that he’ll spend doing it. We’ve been excited about him.”
Coughin on DT Marcus Thomas: “We’re anxious to see him play a little bit. It’s kind of a very interesting story for a guy that started and played 11 games last year…(defensive tackles are) not easy to find. To have a guy like that, that was available to come into your camp and also to be medically okay.”
