August 26, 2012 New York Giants Injury Report: Not practicing yesterday were WR Jerrel Jernigan (leg), TE Travis Beckum (knee – PUP), OG Chris Snee (leg), OT Will Beatty (back), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (back), DE Osi Umenyiora (knee), DE Adrian Tracy (hamstring), DT Chris Canty (knee – PUP), DT Shaun Rogers (blood clot), DT Marvin Austin (back), LB Michael Boley (hamstring), LB Mathias Kiwanuka (groin), CB Prince Amukamara (ankle), CB Terrell Thomas (knee), and CB Jayron Hosley (toe).

S Tyler Sash was carted off the practice field with an ankle injury. “His ankle locked up, is what they said to me,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin after practice. “Otherwise, I have no idea. I’ll have to wait till I get inside.”

Regarding Umenyiora, Coughlin said, “Osi has some swelling, so we shut him down…It’s more precautionary than anything. He’s practiced every practice.”

Regarding Pierre-Paul, Coughlin said, “Getting better. He’s been getting better.”

And on Beatty, Coughlin said, “He did some things. He was down in the corner with the trainers. It’s good to see. It’s always based on what’s he like afterwards? What’s it going to be like? If anybody has had a bad back…”

Amukamara, who is wearing a protective boot, was asked what the trainers are saying about his injury. “Just that it’s a mild high ankle sprain,” said Amukamara. “They didn’t tell me an expected time of recovery, but how I feel right now is a huge improvement than how I felt yesterday and after the game, so we’re just taking it day by day…Rehab part is going to start tomorrow.”

Rogers talked about the possibility that his season may not be over. “Well, we did a little bit more due diligence, and got a little bit better prognosis,” said Rogers. “Hopefully there is some room left in there to get out there. We’re still in the process of making that decision…From what I understand, yeah, you don’t do too well playing on a thinner, or a thing of that nature. That’s really the issue, I guess.”

Hosley is out of his protective boot.

CB Brandon Bing (hamstring) returned to practice. OT Brandon Mosley (ankle) returned to practice on a limited basis.
