September 18, 2012 New York Giants Injury Report: HB Ahmad Bradshaw (neck), WR Hakeem Nicks (foot), WR Domenik Hixon (concussion), and OT David Diehl (knee) did not practice yesterday.

“I expect (Nicks to play against the Panthers),” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin.

“I’m feeling pretty good,” said Nicks. “Just got to keep taking it day by day and tomorrow should feel a little bit better and then Thursday will be game time.”

“It’s highly unlikely (Diehl will play against Carolina), but I would still hold out hope,” said Coughlin. “Dave felt better today, but how much better? We’ll have to see.”

CB Prince Amukamara (ankle), CB Michael Coe (hamstring), LB Keith Rivers (hamstring), and DE Adewale Ojomo (hamstring) were limited in practice.

“We’ll see (if Amukamara can play against Carolina),” said Coughlin. “I’m not ready to say that yet.”

HB Da’Rel Scott (knee) practiced fully.

Quotes: Defensive Coordinator Perry Fewell on CB Jayron Hosley: “He had some good plays on the outside last week, he had a play or two that weren’t so good. I like his poise; I like his confidence. The game is not too big for Jayron. That’s what I really like about him. He’s gotten better each week in practice. We’re asking him to do a lot. He plays on the inside sub package, he plays outside in the base package, and that’s a lot of mental gymnastics for him right now, and he’s been able to handle that so far. I think you’ll see him improve each and every week. I just like the way he focuses in practice as well as in games.”

Fewell on DT Marvin Austin: “No doubt that he’s rusty. We would’ve played him if we needed to play him. We had talked about that as we approached the game. He knew the game plan; he’s going to be rusty whether he plays last week or this week or what have you. He knows the game plan, so (Defensive Line) Coach (Robert) Nunn is doing a great job at trying to get him up to speed, but he’s going to be rusty when he has to play football.”
