March 10, 2013 New York Giants Free Agent News and Rumors: While free agency officially begins on March 12 at 4PM, players and their agents are now allowed to talk to new teams. Here are some of the latest free agent rumblings:

  • USA Today is reporting that the Giants and unrestricted free agent OG Kevin Boothe remain far apart on a new deal. Boothe apparently is drawing interest from the Chicago Bears.
  • The Daily News is reporting that the Giants are making a late push to re-sign unrestricted free agent TE Martellus Bennett.
  • The Daily News is also reporting that the Giants have only offered LB Chase Blackburn a 1-year, veteran minimum deal so Blackburn will test the open market.
  • The Star-Ledger is reporting that two unidentified teams and the Giants have expressed interest in unrestricted free agent QB David Carr.
  • The Cleveland Plain Dealer says the Giants are one of five teams who have expressed interest in unrestricted free agent WR/Returner Josh Cribbs (Cleveland Browns). The other teams are the 49ers, Patriots, Cowboys, and Cardinals.
