Robert Ayers Out for Season With Torn Pectoral Muscle: According to various media reports, New York Giants defensive end Robert Ayers will miss the remainder of the 2014 NFL season with a torn pectoral muscle. Ayers has been one of the Giants’ best defensive players, accruing five sacks on the season as a key rotational player and back-up.

Articles on the Giants-Jaguars Game:

Notes: The Giants’ seven-game losing streak is their longest since they lost eight in a row in 2004. The 3-9 record is their worst after 12 games since 1995. The Giants will have consecutive losing seasons for the first time since 2003 and 2004, when they were 4-12 and 6-10.

The Giants have lost their last three games in which they led at the half – 17-14 at Seattle (where they lost, 38-17), 21-10 last week vs. Dallas (lost, 31-28), and at Jacksonville. Prior to this streak, they had won nine consecutive games in which they held a halftime lead. The Giants also lost the game against Arizona on September 14 when they led 14-10 at the end of the 3rd quarter and lost 25-14.

The Giants led in the fourth quarter, 21-16, and again at 24-22. It was the second game in a row they didn’t hold a fourth-quarter lead. Last week vs. Dallas, they took a 28-24 lead before losing, 31-28.

This was the third time the Giants held a 21-point lead and lost in Tom Coughlin’s 11 years as head coach. On November 26, 2006 at Tennessee, they led 21-0 in the fourth quarter but lost, 24-21. On December 19, 2010 in MetLife Stadium, they led Philadelphia, 24-3 and 31-10, but lost 38-31.

November 26, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: DE Mathias Kiwanuka (knee), LB Jameel McClain (knee), S Antrel Rolle (personal excuse), and OG Adam Snyder (knee) did not practice on Wednesday.

RT Justin Pugh (quadriceps), OG Geoff Schwartz (toe), DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), and LB Jacquian Williams (concussion/shoulder) practiced on a limited basis.

WR Odell Beckham (back) and CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back/hamstring) fully practiced.

Giants Sign Michael Bamiro to Practice Squad: The New York Giants have signed offensive tackle Michael Bamiro to the Practice Squad. Bamiro was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles after the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent the 2013 season on the Eagles’ Practice Squad before being waived in August 2014. Bamiro is a very raw player with an intriguing combiation of size (6’8”, 340 pounds) and overall athleticism.

“We found the biggest man we could,” Head Coach Tom Coughlin said. “No, I’m just kidding. He is huge, he’s a big man. He worked out yesterday, worked out well. He’s in outstanding shape, so he’s here.”

Giants Activate OG Geoff Schwartz Off Short-Term IR: The New York Giants activated offensive guard Geoff Schwartz off off  Injured Reserve/Designated for Return or short-term injured reserve. Schwartz was placed on Injured Reserve on September 3 because of the dislocated right big toe he suffered in the preseason game against the New York Jets on August 22. Today was the deadline for the Giants to activate Schwartz or place him on season-ending Injured Reserve.

To make room for Schwartz, the Giants waived linebacker Justin Anderson, who was signed off of the team’s Practice Squad on Saturday.

“I am ready to go,” Schwartz said. “I had a couple good weeks of practice. Last week was real good. I took every rep for the scout team. I felt good out there. I expect I’ll be ready to go…It was a pretty significant injury. It takes a little time for it to heal. Once you get it healed, it takes a little bit of time to get your strength back and that is kind of what it took.”

Schwartz was starting at left guard before he got hurt. He has experience at right guard and right tackle as well.

“I have no preference (about what position he will play), other than getting him going,” Head Coach Tom Coughlin said about Schwartz.

“I’ve started 11 games at tackle.” Schwartz said. “I played three and a half quarters last year at tackle in the last game of the season. I can play tackle. Obviously, I was signed as a guard, but I think they like my versatility, and I feel comfortable definitely playing tackle.”

That versatility should serve the Giants well as RT Justin Pugh was forced to leave the game on Sunday with a strained quad. His replacement, Charles Brown, was terrible, as was starting RG John Jerry.

Orleans Darkwa, Miami Dolphins (September 14, 2014)

[contentblock id=1 img=html.png]

Giants Sign RB Orleans Darkwa, Place RB Michael Cox on IR: The New York Giants placed running back Michael Cox on season-ending Injured Reserve on Wednesday. Cox fractured his lower leg in the Giants-Seahawks game on Sunday.

To fill that vacant roster spot, the Giants signed running back Orleans Darkwa off of the Practice Squad of the Miami Dolphins.

Darkwa was signed by the Dolphins as a rookie free agent after the 2014 NFL Draft. He played in four games in September before being waived in October and signed to the team’s Practice Squad. Darkwa has average size and overall athletic ability, but he is a steady, hard-working football player with good intangibles.

Because of these moves, we have updated the TransactionsRoster, and Depth Chart sections of the website.

Practice Squad Moves: The New York Giants have signed cornerback Josh Victorian to the Practice Squad. To make room for Victorian, the team has terminated the Practice Squad contract of safety Kyle Sebetic.

Victorian was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2011 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Since then, he has spent time with the Patriots (2011), Saints (2012), Steelers (2012-13), Texans (2013), and Lions (2014). He has played in 12 NFL games, four for the Steelers with one start in 2012 and eight for the Texans in 2013. Victorian has average size and lacks ideal overall athleticism, but he is a hard working, instinctive football player.

November 12, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: RB Peyton Hillis (concussion), DE Damontre Moore (shoulder), DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), and LB Jacquian Williams (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday.

“(Hillis is) not good,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “He and Jacquian are both still under doctor supervision. They were sent home today.”

I expect that Damontre will work tomorrow,” said Coughlin.

RB Rashad Jennings (knee), TE Daniel Fells (neck), DE Mathias Kiwanuka (knee), and S Nat Berhe (ankle) practiced on a limited basis.

“(Jennings) will give our team an outstanding lift,” said Coughlin. “He will practice – the term is going to be limited, but we had him in that capacity a week ago. We selectively worked him. We thought he did well under those circumstances a week ago, and I think we will progress throughout the course of this week and hopefully, without a setback, now he will be ready to go.”

When asked about OG Geoff Schwartz (toe), who is still on short-term Injured Reserve, Coughlin responded, “He’s going to get a lot of work this week. We have until next Monday to make that call. His activity has increased and we’ll do the same thing this week.”

November 10, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: The Giants hope to have RB Rashad Jennings, who has missed the last four games with a knee injury, back this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers.

“I think he will, I’m hoping that he will,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “He did have a good week of practice last week for what we asked him to do.  He had a weekend to continue to rehab and strengthen, so he has worked hard at that. I am going to say that we certainly do expect that he will be ready at the end of this week. But who knows? I can’t tell you 100 percent, but I think he will, and if he is ready, then obviously he will have a big share of the load.”

Coughlin was not asked about the four players injured in the game against the Seahawks: RB Michael Cox (fractured leg), RB Peyton Hillis (concussion), TE Daniel Fells (burner), and S Nat Berhe (ankle).

Chykie Brown, Baltimore Ravens (November 5, 2014)

Chykie Brown – © USA TODAY Sports Images

Giants Claim CB Chykie Brown Off of Waivers: The New York Giants claimed cornerback Chykie Brown off of waivers from the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday. Brown was originally drafted by the Ravens in the 5th round of the 2011 NFL Draft. In four seasons with the Ravens, Brown played in 46 regular-season games with two starts. He has decent size and athletic ability but he struggled in Baltimore.

The Giants also officially placed CB Prince Amukamara on season-ending Injured Reserve.

Because of these moves, we have updated the Transactions, Roster, and Depth Chart sections of the website.

Practice Squad Moves: The New Orleans Saints signed offensive tackle Nick Becton off of the Giants’ Practice Squad. To fill that vacancy, the Giants signed safety Kyle Sebetic to the Practice Squad. Sebetic was originally signed by the Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2014 NFL Draft. The Giants waived him on August 26.

November 5, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: RB Rashad Jennings (knee), OG Weston Richburg (ankle), DE Mathias Kiwanuka (knee), and P Steve Weatherford (ankle/back) did not practice on Wednesday.

“(Jennings has done running, straight ahead,” Head Coach Tom Coughlin said. “I think he started to do some cutting, but I don’t know if there is a full menu or diet of that coming. He is running though.”

“(Richburg) is, I think, progressing,” said Coughlin. “(Senior Vice President of  Medical Services) Ronnie (Barnes) said that he was pleased with the way he was and it is going to end up being day-to-day…They called it a sprain.”

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back/hamstring) and DT Cullen Jenkins (calf) practiced on a limited basis.

Giants to Honor Michael Strahan: The New York Giants will honor former defensive end Michael Strahan at halftime of Monday night’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Giants will welcome back more than 100 former players for “Giants Homecoming Weekend.” At halftime, a special ceremony will honor Strahan, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Former Giants in attendance will include Frank Gifford, Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson, Mark Bavaro, Carl Banks, Amani Toomer, Jason Sehorn, Ottis Anderson, Jessie Armstead, Joe Morris, Brandon Jacobs, and Rodney Hampton.

October 30, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: RB Rashad Jennings (knee) and DT Cullen Jenkins (calf) did not practice on Thursday. Head Coach Tom Coughlin has already ruled Jennings out of the game against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back/hamstring) and P Steve Weatherford (left ankle) were limited in practice.

OG Geoff Schwartz (toe) is still on short-term Injured Reserve. “We’ll see throughout the whole process here with the amount of time that he has to get ready,” said Coughlin. “He’s coming off of a significant injury so we’ll see how he practices and then we’ll go from there…He hasn’t practiced yet. He’s going out there, he’s going to go through individual, and then we’ll spoon feed him in there, no doubt on the scout side of the ball first.”

Jon Beason Out for the Season: The New York Giants confirmed on Monday that linebacker Jon Beason will undergo surgery on his injured right foot. Beason will be placed on Injured Reserve and miss the rest of the 2014 NFL season.

“Let’s get him right,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “We got the guy on the field, he tried it, it actually became a little bit different kind of an injury but the same area. He gave it everything he had and he had the doctor’s approval. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.”

Beason suffered a ligament tear and fracture to the sesamoid bone in his right foot during an OTA practice on June 12. He aggravated the injury in Week 2 against Arizona and Week 7 against Dallas. He missed three games after the game against the Cardinals.

October 27, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: Aside from LB Jon Beason (foot), not practicing on Monday were RB Rashad Jennings (knee), RB Peyton Hillis (illness), DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), and LB Spencer Paysinger (illness).

“He’s not ready to go,” said Head Coach Tom Coughin of Jennings. “He’s day-to-day.”

“I just need to get to the point where I can get back to cutting,’’ Jennings said. “Right now it’s linear, then eventually we’ll get to side to side.”

“(Hillis is) sick,” said Coughlin. “We’ve got a couple of guys. I’m telling you, these vacations are no good. They come back, they’re throwing up. They probably caught it from the kids or something. We’ve got two or three of them that are… (Spencer) Paysinger same way. He’s sick too.”

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back/hamstring) and OG Geoff Schwartz (toe) were limited.

“(Rodgers-Cromartie) was out there,” said Coughlin. “Last week we were encouraged because of the number of treatments that he got. We’ll have to see…I thought there was (improvement). He did some plays and took some plays where he didn’t work. I think it’s a little better than it was, but whether or not it’s ready to be where we would want it to be, I don’t know.”
