GIANTS SIGN TWO MORE TO THE PRACTICE SQUAD…
The New York Giants have signed two more players to their 16-man Practice Squad (there are actually 17 on the Practice Squad due to running back Sandro Platzgummer’s International Player Pathway Program exemption). The team has signed tight end Chris Myarick and center/guard Matt Skura. There is currently one more open spot on the Practice Squad.

The 25-year old, 6’5”, 261-pound Myarick was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2019 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He spent all of 2019 and most of 2020 on the Practice Squad of the Dolphins, though he did play in three games in 2020.

The 28-year old, 6’3”, 310-pound Skura was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Baltimore Ravens after the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season on the Ravens’ Practice Squad. In 2017, Skura started 12 games at right guard for the Ravens. He became the starting center in 2018, and started 27 consecutive regular-season games at the position in two seasons, missing five games due to a knee injury in 2019. Skura started 12 more games at center in 2020, missing one week due to COVID. He signed with the Miami Dolphins in March 2021, but they waived him in late August.

AUGUST 17, 2021 NEW YORK GIANTS TRAINING CAMP REPORT…
The New York Giants held their 15th full-team summer training camp practice on Tuesday at Quest Diagnostics Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

GIANTS MAKE ROSTER MOVES, EXCHANGE CORNERSBACKS WITH PACKERS…
In an effort to reach the current 85-man roster limit, the New York Giants terminated the contracts of running back Alfred Morris and safety Chris Milton. The team also placed cornerback Jarren Williams on Injured Reserve with a quad injury.

The Giants also traded cornerback Isaac Yiadom to the Green Bay Packers for cornerback Josh Jackson.

The 6’1”, 190-pound Yiadom was originally drafted in the 3rd round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. The Giants traded a 7th-round pick to the Broncos for Yiadom in early September 2020. Yiadom eventually won the starting corner spot opposite of James Bradberry, playing in all 16 games with 10 starts (58 percent of all defensive snaps). He finished the year with 46 tackles, 0.5 sacks, five pass defenses, and one forced fumble.

The 25-year old, 6’0”, 196-pound Jackson was drafted in the 2nd-round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Packers. In three seasons with the Packers, Jackson played in 42 regular-season games with 15 starts, including five in 2020. Last year, he was credited with 24 tackles and two pass defenses.

The Giants signed Morris to the Practice Squad in late September 2020 and the 53-man roster in November 2020. Morris ended up playing in nine games for the Giants with no starts, carrying the ball 55 times for 238 yards (4.3 yards per rush). The 5’10”, 222-pound Morris was originally drafted in the 6th round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. He has spent time with the Redskins (2012-2015), Dallas Cowboys (2016-2017, 2019), San Francisco 49ers (2018), and Arizona Cardinals (2019).

The Giants signed Milton in March 2021 after he was cut by the Tennessee Titans in February. The 5’11”, 190-pound Milton was originally signed as undrafted rookie free agent by the Indianapolis Colts after the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Colts before being signed by the Titans after he was cut. In all, Milton has played in 55 regular-season games, with one start, accruing 35 tackles, two pass defenses, and recovering one fumble.

The 5’10”, 187-pound Williams was signed by the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2020 NFL Draft. The Giants signed signed Williams in early August 2020 after he was waived by the Cardinals. He spent most of the year on the Practice Squad, but did play in two games exclusively on special teams.

AUGUST 5, 2021 NEW YORK GIANTS TRAINING CAMP REPORT…

      INJURY REPORT…
WR Kenny Golladay (hamstring), TE Levine Toilolo (torn Achilles’ tendon), LB Lorenzo Carter (calf), LB Elerson Smith (hamstring), LB Trent Harris (unknown), and WR Austin Mack (hamstring) did not practice on Thursday.

While media reports said that Golladay will be out 2-3 weeks, Head Coach Joe Judge was not that specific. “I don’t (have an update), I know he’s with the trainers right now,” said Judge. “These first 36 to 48 hours is the biggest, as far as what his timetable may be. We’re hoping for the best. We’re going let him go ahead and keep getting treatments and see where it progresses over the next week.”

LT Andrew Thomas (offseason ankle surgery) and WR Kadarius Toney (COVID) practiced on a limited basis.

When asked about Thomas, Judge said, “It was a third day in back in pads. For some of the guys, coming off the loads they had the year before, and he’s obviously coming of an injury and surgery at the end of last year, so we just take all that all of that into account. It wasn’t a direct issue of something we couldn’t do, but it was just us being cautious.”

LB Reggie Ragland (hamstring) was activated off of the Reserve/Non-Football Injury (NFI) List.

The following players remain on various PUP and reserve lists:

      • Reserve/COVID-19 List: TE Rysen John

GIANTS CUT DEVONTA FREEMAN, RE-SIGN JOE WEBB AND DAVID SILLS…
The New York Giants have waived running back Devonta Freeman from Injured Reserve. The team has also re-signed quarterback Joe Webb and wide receiver David Sills.

The Giants placed Freeman on Injured Reserve in November 2020 with ankle and hamstring injuries. The 5’8”, 206-pound Freeman was originally drafted in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. In six years with the Falcons, Freeman played in 77 regular-season games with 59 starts, rushing 951 times for 3,972 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and 32 touchdowns. He also caught 257 passes for 2,015 yards and 11 touchdowns. Freeman missed most of the 2018 season with knee and groin injuries. His productivity fell to 656 yards on 184 carries (3.6 yards per carry) and two touchdowns in 2019. The Falcons cut Freeman in March 2020 and the Giants signed him in late September 2020. Freeman played in five games with the Giants, starting four, and finished 2020 with 54 carries for 172 yards (3.2 yards per carry) and one touchdown. He also caught seven passes for 58 yards.

The Giants signed Webb to the Practice Squad and then the 53-man roster in December 2020. The team waived him on January 2. The 6’4”, 231-pound Webb was originally drafted in the 6th round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He has spent time with the Vikings (2010-2013), Carolina Panthers (2014-2016), Buffalo Bills (2017), Houston Texans (2018-2019), and Detroit Lions (2020). Webb has played in 104 regular-season games with four starts, completing 90-of-159 passes (56.6 percent) for 888 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also has caught 10 passes in his career and returned 18 kickoffs.

The 6’3”, 211-pound Sills was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Buffalo Bills after the 2019 NFL Draft. The Giants signed Sills to the Practice Squad in September 2019 after he was cut by the Bills. The Giants then signed him to the 53-man roster in mid-December 2019. He did not play in a game however.

JAMES BRADBERRY AND JASON GARRETT WILL MISS SUNDAY’S GAME DUE TO COVID-19…
New York Giants cornerback James Bradberry and Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett will miss Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns due to COVID-19. Bradberry has been officially placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 List.

According to the Giants’ press release, “Bradberry was placed on the list because he was deemed to be a high risk close contact of an individual who has tested positive. The contact did not occur at the Giants facility and the individual is not a member of the organization.”

Garrett actually tested positive for COVID-19. Garrett will continue to work remotely and Tight Ends Coach Freddie Kitchens will serve as the team’s offensive play caller on Sunday.

The Giants coaches and players did not meet on Monday or Tuesday. Due to NFL COVID-19 protocols, the team also did not practice on Thursday.

“Instead of practicing this afternoon, what we’ll do is we’ll bring the players back into a Zoom meeting from 3 to 5:30,” said Head Coach Joe Judge, “and we’ll go ahead and get a jump-start on tomorrow’s install, along with some extra tape on the Browns. We’re going to use this as a good mental day and prepare, make sure we get some good organizational work between units with communication. We’ll take advantage of everything afforded to us, and we’ll get back on the field tomorrow.”

On a related note, running back Devonta Freeman, who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month while on Injured Reserve, has been taken off of the Reserve/COVID-19 List. Freeman remains on IR with ankle and hamstring injures.

DECEMBER 17, 2020 NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
While the team did not practice on Thursday due to COVID-19 protocols, it did issue the following injury report:

CB Darnay Holmes (knee) would not have practiced. QB Daniel Jones (hamstring/ankle), TE Kaden Smith (knee), and OG Kevin Zeitler (shoulder) would have been limited in practice.

“(Jones) actually was allowed to come in the building today,” said Judge. “We had some treatment available for some guys that are either on IR or guys that needed treatment. They were the only players in the building today. But in terms of Daniel, the evaluation has obviously been put off a day as far as him moving around. Look, I was encouraged with how he moved around yesterday at practice, how he threw the ball, how he was in the pocket. That was very encouraging. That being said, we’ll have to see him at really a faster tempo. Tomorrow will be really the day we’ll evaluate that out there. I’d say obviously with two injuries, it’s a little bit different situation than it was just last week. But he’s making progress, he’s doing everything the trainers ask him to and he’s working hard. We just need to make sure we do a good job of really watching him tomorrow at practice and make the best decision.”

DECEMBER 10, 2020 NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
CB Madre Harper (knee) did not practice on Thursday.

QB Daniel Jones (hamstring), LB Blake Martinez (back), OT Matt Peart (ankle), and CB Darnay Holmes (knee) were limited in practice.

“I think (Jones is) working hard every day to get better,” said Head Coach Joe Judge. “He’s doing everything we ask him to do. He did a good job in the walkthrough yesterday. We put him through some basic agility, short space stuff. I would say that he’s throwing the ball well, but there’s a lot of things we still need to see. Throwing the ball in short space and going through a walkthrough are very, very different than going through team periods and being able to see how this guy reacts and moves in the pocket, which is really our biggest concern is how he can protect himself on the field. Today will tell us a lot and tomorrow hopefully we’ll make a final decision.”

TRENT HARRIS RE-SIGNED TO PRACTICE SQUAD…
The New York Giants have re-signed linebacker Trent Harris to the Practice Squad. Harris was cut from the 53-man roster on Tuesday.

The Giants signed Harris to the Practice Squad and then the 53-man roster in October 2020. He played in four games with two starts for the Giants. The 6’2”, 255-pound Harris was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the New England Patriots after the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season on the Practice Squad of the Patriots. The Miami Dolphins claimed Harris off of waivers in September 2019. He played in 11 games with three starts with the Dolphins, accruing 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks. The Dolphins cut him in early September 2020.
