Giants Clobber Rams 41-13: The Giants defeated the St. Louis Rams 41-13 earlier today, winning their 12th straight road game dating back to last season.

The Giants out-gained the Rams in first downs (25 to 13), total yardage (441 to 201), rushing yards (200 to 68), and passing yards (241 to 133). Defensively, the Giants sacked Rams’ QB Marc Bulger six times and returned an interception for a touchdown. DE/DT Justin Tuck led the way with two sacks and the defensive touchdown.

The game was close at halftime (13-6) and early in the 4th quarter (20-13), but the Giants put away the Rams with three unanswered touchdowns in the 4th quarter.

The game’s first points were scored by the Giants on their second drive as New York drove 64 yards in 7 plays. QB Eli Manning found WR Plaxico Burress for a 33-yard score.

Both teams then exchanged field goal drives as St. Louis moved 41 yards in 12 plays to set up a 54-yard field goal and New York responded with a 13-play, 59-yard drive that ended with a 39-yard field goal by PK John Carney. After 3-and-outs by both the Rams and Giants, the Rams added another 54-yard field goal to cut the Giants’ lead to 10-6. With 1:49 left before halftime, Manning and the Giants drove 53 yards in 9 plays to set up Carney for a 33-yard field goal.  Giants 13 – Rams 6 at the half.

At the start of the third quarter, after gaining one first down, the Rams punted. The Giants then impressively drove 97 yards in 10 plays to take a 20-6 advantage. On the drive Manning found Burress for 14 yards on 3rd-and-6. HB Brandon Jacobs broke off a 30-yard run. The drive ended with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Manning to WR Amani Toomer.

Both teams exchanged punts. With just under 11 minutes to play in the 4th quarter, the Rams scored on a 45-yard, miracle catch by WR Torry Holt, who caught a pass in the end zone while falling on his back after it had been tipped by S Kenny Phillips. Holt also had to out-wrestle Phillips for ball on the ground. Giants 20 – Rams 13.

The Giants responded well with a 6-play, 82-yard touchdown drive. Manning hit  WR Domenik Hixon for 32 yards before throwing to HB Ahmad Bradshaw for an 18-yard score.  Giants 27 – Rams 13.

On the Rams’ next possession, Bulger’s pass intended for WR Dante Hall was intercepted by Tuck and returned 41 yards for the score with just under six minutes to play. Giants 34 – Rams 13.

The Rams were forced to punt on their next possession. Hixon returned the punt 50 yards to the St. Louis 39-yard line. Three plays later, Bradshaw broke off a 31-yard touchdown run. The Rams were forced to punt again on their final possession and the Giants kneeled on the ball to run out the clock.

Offensively, Manning finished the game 20-of-29 for 260 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. Burress caught 5 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Toomer caught 6 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. Hixon caught 3 passes for 60 yards. Jacobs carried the ball 15 times for 93 yards, Derrick Ward 8 times for 58 yards, and Bradshaw 5 times for 52 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Tuck had 2 sacks and an interception for a touchdown. DT Fred Robbins had 2 sacks, while LB Antonio Pierce and DT Jay Alford had one each.

Post-Game Notes: Inactive for the Giants were HB Danny Ware, WR Mario Manningham, OT Adam Koets, DE Dave Tollefson, LB Jonathan Goff (back), CB R.W. McQuarters (calf), CB Terrell Thomas (hamstring), and K Lawrence Tynes (knee).
