Eagles Traded Up for Jeremy Maclin Before Giants Could Draft Him?: According to The Star-Ledger, the New York Giants had worked out the parameters of a trade with the Detroit Lions last Saturday during the 2009 NFL Draft so they could move up to the #20 spot in the 1st round in order to selected WR Jeremy Maclin (Missouri). But the Eagles beat the Giants to the punch by trading up to the #19 spot with the Browns to select Maclin first.

Giants Claim Colts Cornerback: The Giants claimed CB Brandon Sumrall off of waivers yesterday from the Indianapolis Colts.

Rookie Free Agent Update: In addition to the eight players (six supposedly signed, two mini-camp tryouts) we mentioned in yesterday’s update, the Giants have reportedly signed CB Bruce Johnson (Miami) and offered tryouts to WR Maurice Covington (Virginia), OT Jesse Miller (Michigan State), OC Ryan Shuman (Virginia Tech), and DE Robert St. Clair (Florida Atlantic).

Giants Rookie Salary Cap Set: According to The Star-Ledger, the Giants rookie pool allotment to sign their nine draft picks has been set by the NFL to $4,867,462.
