August 6, 2010 New York Giants Training Camp Reports: The following media sources have provided training camp reports of yesterday’s practice:

Injury Report – Seubert Has Broken Hand; Smith Will Undergo MRI on Groin Injury: The Giants revealed yesterday that LG Rich Seubert has a fractured left hand. Seubert will be re-evaluated today at which time it will be determined how much time he will likely miss.

Coughlin said the Giants have to be careful not to rush Seubert back. “‘Oh yeah, broken hand, you just tape it up, put a cast on and you go play with it,’ but they don’t do that today,” said Coughlin. “If the metacarpal twists, they have to do surgery and put a pin in it and then you could be out for six weeks. They have to be very careful with that. If they go light early, if they just allow that thing to heal a little bit for a couple weeks to the point where they don’t think that’s the risk and they put a cast on it, then the guy can usually play. The last few times that this has happened, and anything that I have been involved in, they have always done this, so we’re not going to let him go right back out.”

In addition to Seubert, WR Steve Smith left practice early with a groin injury. He will undergo an MRI in order to determine the severity of the injury. “I made a normal move and I just heard it kind of grab,” Smith said.

TE Jake Ballard (hamstring) also left practice early. OL Rueben Riley (knee – MCL according to Coughlin) was injured on the last play of practice. WR Duke Calhoun (unknown injury) left practice but returned.

In addition to Seubert, not practicing yesterday were TE Kevin Boss (ankle), H-Back Travis Beckum (hamstring), OC Shaun O’Hara (ankle), S Deon Grant (groin), S Kenny Phillips (PUP – knee), and OG Kevin Boothe (PUP – chest).

WR Mario Manningham (groin) returned to practice.

Phillips to Return to Practice on Monday: The Giants expect S Kenny Phillips (knee) to return to practice on Monday. Phillips has not played or practiced since the game in Dallas in week two of last season. He is currently on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) List.

Roster Moves: The Giants waived WR Adam Jennings yesterday. To fill his roster spot, the team signed WR Nyan Boateng, who tried out with the Giants at their rookie mini-camp but was not signed at that time.
