Additional Training Camp Reports: The following media sources have also provided training camp reports:

Injury Report – Good News on Smith and Seubert: Not practicing yesterday in either practice were WR Steve Smith (groin), LG Rich Seubert (hand), OC Shaun O’Hara (ankle), OG Kevin Boothe (PUP – chest), TE Kevin Boss (ankle), H-Back Travis Beckum (hamstring), TE Jake Ballard (hamstring), S Kenny Phillips (PUP – knee), and S Deon Grant (quad).

Boss had been practicing once per day but did not practice at all on Friday or Saturday.

The good news on Smith is that his groin injury was determined to be a mild groin strain and an MRI was not deemed necessary. “It’s weak right now, got to get it stronger,” Smith said. “It’s better today than it was yesterday, they said it’s a good sign, my strength is coming back. (I’m) day to day.”

The Giants also received good news on Seubert after he met with a team doctor on Saturday. According to The Star-Ledger, Seubert will return to practice on Wednesday despite having a fractured hand.

Not practicing in the morning were WR Hakeem Nicks (toe/knee), DT Jay Alford (knee), DE Osi Umenyiora (hip), and LB Keith Bulluck (knee). All four practiced in the evening.

Roster Moves: The Giants waived/injured OL Rueben Riley, who injured his ACL on the last play of practice on Friday. To fill his roster spot, the team signed OL Cliff Louis, who was with the Giants in training camp in 2008 and 2009.

Notes and Quotes: There are no practices today. For details on upcoming practices, check out the camp schedule in the Training Camp section of the website.

Coughlin on OL Guy Whimper who has seen work at left guard with Rich Seubert and Kevin Boothe out: “He’s doing all right. He’s just got to be a more consistent player and by that I mean execution, making the blocks in all kinds of situations and we want to count on guys so much but he’s got to prove it to us. He can play anywhere, he plays guard and he plays tackle. He does have skill, it’s just that we haven’t ever gotten the real total package, the whole experience in terms in consistency and no M.A’s (missed assignments) and make all the blocks and all of the above.”

Offensive Line Coach Pat Flaherty on OC Adam Koets: “You see improvement, you do. The improvement you see is that he is more aware of the position and the cadence and the snap as much as anything. The transition period going from a positional player to snapping the football is the snap and that is something that he needs to get better at and we would like him to finish his blocks and play with the power that he created in the offseason because he did a great job in the weight room. He got a lot stronger.”
