OCTOBER 1, 2016 NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
Safety Darian Thompson (foot), safety Nat Berhe (concussion), offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse (calf), and defensive tackle Robert Thomas (illness) have officially been ruled out of Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Cornerback Eli Apple (hamstring) is “doubtful” for the game while cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (groin) and running back Rashad Jennings (thumb) are “questionable.”
Defensive end Olivier Vernon (wrist) is “probable.”
GIANTS TO WORK OUT SAFETIES DONTE WHITNER AND SHAMIEL GARY…
The NFL Network is reporting that the New York Giants will work out safeties Donte Whitner and Shamiel Gary on Sunday.
The 31-year old Whitner was originally drafted in the 1st round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He has played with the Bills (2006-2010), San Francisco 49ers (2011-2013), and Cleveland Browns (2014-2015). The Browns cut him in April. Whitner was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2012-2014. Whitner has played in 146 regular-season games with 143 starts.
The 26-year old Gary was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2014 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He has spent time with the Patriots (2014), Chicago Bears (2014), Boston Brawlers (2014), Miami Dolphins (2015-2016), and Minnesota Vikings (2016). He was released from the Vikings Practice Squad in September. Gary has played in six regular-season NFL games with one start.
