Daniel Jones Practices Again, But Joe Judge Unsure If He Will Play

DECEMBER 10, 2020 NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
CB Madre Harper (knee) did not practice on Thursday.

QB Daniel Jones (hamstring), LB Blake Martinez (back), OT Matt Peart (ankle), and CB Darnay Holmes (knee) were limited in practice.

“I think (Jones is) working hard every day to get better,” said Head Coach Joe Judge. “He’s doing everything we ask him to do. He did a good job in the walkthrough yesterday. We put him through some basic agility, short space stuff. I would say that he’s throwing the ball well, but there’s a lot of things we still need to see. Throwing the ball in short space and going through a walkthrough are very, very different than going through team periods and being able to see how this guy reacts and moves in the pocket, which is really our biggest concern is how he can protect himself on the field. Today will tell us a lot and tomorrow hopefully we’ll make a final decision.”

TRENT HARRIS RE-SIGNED TO PRACTICE SQUAD…
The New York Giants have re-signed linebacker Trent Harris to the Practice Squad. Harris was cut from the 53-man roster on Tuesday.

The Giants signed Harris to the Practice Squad and then the 53-man roster in October 2020. He played in four games with two starts for the Giants. The 6’2”, 255-pound Harris was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the New England Patriots after the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season on the Practice Squad of the Patriots. The Miami Dolphins claimed Harris off of waivers in September 2019. He played in 11 games with three starts with the Dolphins, accruing 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks. The Dolphins cut him in early September 2020.

DECEMBER 3, 2020 NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
QB Daniel Jones (hamstring) and LB Cam Brown (illness) did not practice on Thursday.

“We had positive reports on (Jones) yesterday,” said Head Coach Joe Judge. “Obviously, we have to kind of see a little bit more from him today. The plan is to get him out there with the trainers, move him around a little bit, throw a little bit, see where that progresses to and what that allows him to do later in practice today or maybe what that shows what we can do with him tomorrow. Again, there are still a lot of questions more so than answers right now. I know he’s doing everything he can to get back and be with the team. He’s preparing tirelessly, he’s in the building, he’s doing everything he can like it would be any other day. I know mentally where he’s at. We just have to check physically where he’s at and make sure we make the right decision for him.”

WR Darius Slayton (shoulder/foot), WR Sterling Shepard (toe/shoulder), LB David Mayo (knee), and S Nate Ebner (knee) were limited in practice.

PRACTICE SQUAD MOVE…
The New York Giants have terminated the Practice Squad contract of safety Chris Williamson, who the team drafted in the 7th-round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

EXCEPT FOR WILL HERNANDEZ, ALL PLAYERS BACK TODAY…
As previously reported, New York Giants left guard Will Hernandez tested positive for COVID and was sent home on Thursday. Hernandez remains at home and was officially placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 List. He will not play on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The good news is that the seven other players and two coaches who were also sent home as a precaution have passed the COVID testing protocols and returned to the team.

The two coaches were reported to be Outside Linebackers Coach Bret Bielema and Defensive Backs Coach Jerome Henderson. The players were offensive linemen Nick Gates, Spencer Pulley, Shane Lemieux, Cam Fleming, Andrew Thomas, and Chad Slade as well as wide receiver Binjimen Victor.

OCTOBER 29, 2020 NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
RB Devonta Freeman (ankle) and OG Will Hernandez (positive COVID test) did not practice on Friday.

WR Sterling Shepard (shoulder/toe), CB Darnay Holmes (neck), and S Adrian Colbert (shoulder) were limited in practice.

WR C.J. Board (concussion) fully practiced.

RB Saquon Barkley, who is on Injured Reserve with a torn ACL, partially tore the meniscus, and sprained MCL, underwent surgery today.

OCTOBER 8, 2020 NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT…
LB Oshane Ximines (shoulder) did not practice on Thursday.

LB Kyle Fackrell (neck), S Jabrill Peppers (ankle), and S Adrian Colbert (neck) practiced on a limited basis.

LB David Mayo, who underwent surgery on a torn meniscus on his left knee on August 27th, returned to practice today. May is current on Injured Reserve and the Giants now have 21 days to decide whether to turn Mayo to the 53-man roster or keep him on Injured Reserve for the remainder of the season.

PRACTICE SQUAD MOVE…
The New York Giants have terminated the Practice Squad contract of linebacker Jermaine Grace, who the team just signed on Tuesday. The 6’1”, 223-pound Grace was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Atlanta Falcons after the 2017 NFL Draft. The much traveled Grace has spent time with the Falcons (2017, 2018-2019), Indianapolis Colts (2017), Cleveland Browns (2018, 2019-2020), and Seattle Seahawks (2018, 2019). Grace has played in 24 regular-season games with no starts, accruing eight tackles.
