Giants Agree to Terms With Offensive Lineman Shane Olivea: The NFL Network, ESPN, and The New York Post are reporting that the Giants have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent RT Shane Olivea. ESPN is reporting that the deal is a 1-year contract. Olivea was released by the San Diego Chargers in February. The NFL Network says that Olivea still must workout for the Giants and pass a physical before he is signed.

“Shane is looking forward to going back home and jump-starting his career with the world champions,” said Olivea’s agent.

ESPN reports that Olivea was suspended by the NFL in June for four games due to missing a drug test. Olivea appealed the suspension, arguing that he missed the test because he was receiving treatment for drug-related issues. The NFL rescinded the suspension, but is continuing to test him.

Olivea, who was drafted in the 7th round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Chargers, was once considered a solid starter, but he was benched in 2007 for poor play.
