Antonio Pierce Finishes Testifying in Front of Grand Jury: Linebacker Antonio Pierce finished his testimony before a grand jury investigating the circumstances surrounding the November 2008 Plaxico Burress shooting incident. Pierce testified both on Thursday and Friday. For his role in the incident, Pierce faces possible weapons charges.

“We are extremely confident that they are going to come down with a decision that we’ve been saying for many, many months, that Mr. Pierce acted responsibly, intelligently and as any responsible citizen would have acted in similar circumstances,” said Pierce’s lawyer. “We’re confident that (the grand jury will not indict Pierce).”

“It’s easy to go backward and try to recreate steps, but Mr. Pierce acted under a stressful situation to save what he thought was the life of a teammate,” said Pierce’s lawyer. “It’s really clear once all the testimony came out that no one could have acted any differently…Mr. Pierce did not ask for sympathy. Mr. Pierce asked that the grand jury weigh the facts because the facts are sufficient to demonstrate that Mr. Pierce committed no impropriety.”
