Lawrence Taylor Accused of Rape: 51-year old, Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was charged by police in Rampapo, New York yesterday with third-degree (statutory) rape and patronizing a prostitute.
According to the police, the girl involved in the alleged incident is a 16-year old Bronx runaway who had been staying with a 36-year old parolee, Rasheed Davis. Davis is accused of beating up the girl and forcing her to have sex with Taylor at a Holiday Inn in Montebello, New York.
The age for consensual sex in New York State is 17. Police stated Taylor was “very cooperative” and that Taylor said he had no idea that the girl was underage. But the police also said “ignorance is not an excuse to an individual’s age.”
Taylor’s wife claims her husband is being setup. And his lawyer obviously claims his client’s innocence.
“Lawrence Taylor did not rape anybody, am I clear?” said Taylor’s attorney.
Taylor could face up to four years in prison if convicted.
