Giants Sign Defensive Tackle Kenrick Ellis: The New York Giants have announced that the team has signed unrestricted free agent defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis. The contract is reportedly a 1-year, $1.65 million deal with $500,000 in guaranteed money.

The 27-year old Ellis is a huge (6’4”, 346 pound) run-stuffing defensive tackle who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Jets. Ellis did not start a game for the Jets in 2014, but he was a valuable reserve on a talented defensive line. In four seasons with the Jets, Ellis has played in 47 games with five starts. He has accrued 53 tackles and only one sack during that time.

Ellis will most likely compete with Cullen Jenkins, Jay Bromley, and Markus Kuhn for a starting position alongside defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins. It remains unknown whether or not the Giants have any interest in re-signing unrestricted free agent Mike Patterson.

Offensive Lineman James Brewer Visits Jets: The New York Jets have announced that unrestricted free agent offensive lineman James Brewer (New York Giants) is visiting the team today.

Brewer simply has not developed as a player since being drafted in the 4th round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Giants. A year after playing in all 16 games with eight starts, Brewer only played in two games in November before being placed on injured reserve in December with a concussion.
