In a major front office shake-up, the New York Giants have fired Director of College Scouting Chris Pettit and Senior Personnel Executive Kyle O’Brien.

Pettit first began working for the Giants as a training camp pro personnel intern from 1998-2000. He joined the Giants’ scouting staff in 2005 after spending the 2004 season as a scouting intern for the team. For 13 years, he served as an area scout for the Giants. Then in June 2018, he was promoted to the director of college scouting. In effect, Pettit replaced previously fired Vice President of Player Evaluation Marc Ross, who was in charge of the scouting department.

The Giants hired O’Brien last March to fill the team’s newly created position of senior personnel executive. O’Brien had spent the previous five years with the Detroit Lions, first as the team’s director of player personnel (2016) and then vice president of player personnel (2017-2020). O’Brien also served as the director of college scouting for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2013-2015).
