MARTIN MAYHEW HIRED BY SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS…
According to SNY and The Daily News, the San Francisco 49ers have hired New York Giants Director of Football Operations/Special Projects Martin Mayhew to become a senior personal executive. Mayhew served as the general manager for the Lions from 2008-20015. He was fired by the Lions in November 2015. In his position with the Giants, Mayhew worked with Assistant General Manager Kevin Abrams on all aspects of the salary cap, Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) compliance, and player contract negotiations. He also handled special projects as assigned by General Manager Jerry Reese.

GIANTS HIRE MARTIN MAYHEW AS DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS…
The New York Giants have hired Martin Mayhew as their new director of football operations/special projects. Mayhew replaces Matt Harriss, who was hired by the Detroit Lions as their new Vice President of Football Administration or salary cap expert. Harriss had been with the Giants for 10 years.

Mayhew served as the general manager for the Lions from 2008-20015. He was fired by the Lions in November 2015. In his new position with the Giants, Mayhew will work with Assistant General Manager Kevin Abrams on all aspects of the salary cap, Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) compliance, and player contract negotiations. He will also handle special projects as assigned by General Manager Jerry Reese.

Before becoming general manager of the Lions in 2008, Mayhew served as Detroit’ssenior director of football administration/staff counsel (2001-2003), senior vice president of football administration/legal affairs (2003-2004), and senior vice president and assistant general manager (2004-2008).

Mayhew played nine years in the NFL as a cornerback for the Buffalo Bills (1988), Washington Redskins (1989-1992), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1993-1996).
