TE Sean Berton Officially Waived: Yesterday, the Giants officially announced that they have waived TE Sean Berton because he failed his physical, confirming what The Star-Ledger reported last week. Berton tore a ligament in his knee during a game last December.
Jason Shivers and Travis Dorsch Awarded: FS Jason Shivers (allocated by the Giants to the Hamburg Sea Devils) and P Travis Dorsch (Rhein Fire) were awarded NFL Europe “Defensive Player of the Week” and “Special Teams Player of the Week” honors, respectively, for their performances last weekend.
Shivers accrued five tackles, three pass defenses, and returned a fumble 45 yards for a touchdown. Dorsch average 44.7 yards on six punts, including two downed inside the 20-yard line.
Notes: WLB Barrett Green, who the Giants waived in March, has signed a 1-year, $585,000 contract with the Houston Texans.
