New York Giants Sign Hakeem Nicks: The Giants announced yesterday that they have signed WR Hakeem Nicks, the team’s first-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. All nine of the Giants’ 2009 draft picks are now signed in time for the start of training camp. All rookies and veterans are scheduled to arrive today in Albany, New York.

“Our objective every year is to have these rookies in camp on time,” said General Manager Jerry Reese. “Training camp is the start of the long haul to get to where we want to be as a team. We all have a lot of hard work ahead of us, and this is the start. It’s important for the rookies to be in sync with the rest of the team from the start, because we expect them to contribute to our success. Every year.”

Nicks’ contract is reportedly a 5-year, $12.54 million deal that includes about $6.5 million in guaranteed money.

Giants Waive Safety Steve Cargile: To make room for Nicks on the 80-man roster, the Giants yesterday waived safety Steve Cargile.
