Quotes: QB Eli Manning on WRs Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz missing the OTAs: “I knew there was a chance with Victor; he didn’t have a contract. You got some work. But I was just really hoping (the Duke workouts) would be a little starter course to the spring. Not a substitute for what we’re doing on the field right now. This is stuff where we’re getting to go against cornerbacks, you get to work your technique…you’d still like them back here just to work on things that we didn’t do as well last year. They know what they’re doing. It’s just a matter of improving how they’re doing it sometimes.”

Tight Ends Coach Mike Pope on TE Brandon Myers: “He is a good receiver. I think at the Raiders he was more of an intermediate receiver. And now our passing game does allow the tight end to get more vertically down the field – flag routes – double seam routes – post routes – that kind of thing. And he appears to have the skills to get those balls. He has a little bit of a jet that can accelerate and go get a ball that is a little deeper. You may not think he is going to reach it, but he has that little bit. So we are very interested to see him in pads.”

Cornerbacks Coach Peter Giunta on CB Aaron Ross being back: “It’s great. He picked up where he left off. He looked really focused. His quickness is better than it was when he left. Being away for a while… It showed him how much he missed this place and missed the guys he was with and the way we run the operation here at the Giants. It’s been a breath of fresh air having him back because he really appreciates what we have here and some of the guys take it for granted, but he hasn’t and it comes across to the other guys. Hey, this is important. You guys don’t know how lucky you have it here.”

Giunta on CB Trumaine McBride: “Trumaine McBride has done a tremendous job in the OTAs so far and we’re looking forward to seeing him compete in training camp. He’s a veteran. He’s played in the league and played at Chicago and has a lot of experience and a lot of quickness.”

Giunta on CB Charles James: “Very quick athlete. Very good change of direction. Very good ball skills, like his toughness.”
