New York Giants Close to Re-Signing LB Chase Blackburn: According to The Star-Ledger, the Giants are close to re-signing LB Chase Blackburn to a 4-year, $3 million contract that would possibly keep him under contract with the Giants through the 2010 season. The final year of the deal would apparently be voidable. The Ledger says the new contract would be an extension, but according to NFLPA.org, Blackburn is currently not under contract and will become a free agent (probably an exclusive rights free agent) on March 2nd when free agency starts.

New York Giants and OC Shaun O’Hara Continue to Negotiate: According to The Star-Ledger, the agents for soon-to-be unrestricted free agent OC Shaun O’Hara and the Giants met last night in anticipation of finalizing a new five- or six-year contract. General Manager Jerry Reese told The Bergen Record that he thought the Giants were close to re-signing O’Hara. Yesterday’s Bergen Record said that the new contract would be pay O’Hara an average of $4-4.5 million per season with a signing bonus in the $8 million range. The paper says that would make O’Hara’s cap number for 2007 in the $2.5 million range.

New York Giants Waive OT Henry Tellis: According to The Star-Ledger, the Giants have waived OT Henry Tellis because he failed a physical. Tellis was signed by the Giants as a street free agent in January 2006 and allocated to NFL Europe. The Giants must have placed him on some sort of injury list because he did not actually play in NFL Europe last year and he was not on the Giants’ active roster.
