June 18, 2009 New York Giants Mini-Camp: The Giants’ three-day, full-squad mini-camp ended yesterday with one short morning practice. The veterans will now be off until they are required to report to training camp in Albany in early August.

Injury Report: Not practicing yesterday were DT Fred Robbins (knee), DT Barry Cofield (knee), DT Rocky Bernard (shoulder), LB Chase Blackburn (hamstring), LB Clint Sintim (hamstring), CB Corey Webster (shoulder), CB Kevin Dockery (unknown), S Steve Cargile (unknown), HB Andre Brown (unknown), WR Sinorice Moss (hamstring), WR David Tyree (hamstring), WR Taye Biddle (finger), TE Kevin Boss (unknown), TE Travis Beckum (hamstring), TE Lee Vickers (unknown), and LT William Beatty (hamstring).

“I am disappointed in the number of injured guys,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “It’s not their fault. I’m not pointing the finger at anybody. I’m just saying for our team to have that many guys standing around watching practice in training would be a real setback. We couldn’t function the way we want to if that was the case.”

Giants Sign First Draft Pick: The Giants announced that they have signed the first of their 2009 NFL Draft picks, CB DeAndre Wright, who was selected in the 6th round. According to The Daily News, Wright signed a 4-year, $1.6 million contract that includes escalators and incentives that could increase the value to $4 million.

In order to remain under the mandatory 80-man roster limit, the Giants waived rookie free agent DT Dwayne Hendricks (Miami).
