Bill Cowher Denies Telling Bettis About Interest in Giants: Though he did not actually deny interest in the Giants’ head coaching job, former Steelers’ head coach told Sirius Radio that he has not told former Steelers’ running back Jerome Bettis of any such interest.
“I haven’t talked to Jerome Bettis in two years,” Cowher said. “I’ll leave it at that.”
Bettis recently said that Cowher coveted the Giants’ head coaching job (see “News and Notes” from January 15, 2010).
Mike Waufle Joins Raiders: Mike Waufle, the defensive line coach of the Giants who was fired by the team earlier this month, has been hired by the Oakland Raiders in the same capacity. The Star-Ledger reports that Waufle was let go by the Giants because he grew too close to his players and was not hard enough on them. The paper also says Waufle felt he was underpaid.
