New York Giants to Return to Albany: As had been expected, the New York Giants and SUNY Albany officially announced yesterday that the Giants will return to Albany, New York for summer training camp this year.

The deal between the Giants and SUNY Albany also includes a two-year option to have the Giants remain in Albany through 2012.

This will be the 15th year that the Giants have held training camp in Albany, the longest period at one site in the team’s training camp history.

“Albany has been an ideal summer home for our football team,” said Giants’ President and CEO John Mara. “We have felt for 15 years that starting our season in Albany gives us the best chance to succeed each season.”

Training camp in Albany will begin on Sunday, August 1 and end on August 20. The Giants will practice 16 days on campus, including seven double sessions and five evening practices. On the day before the opening preseason game, the team will hold a one-hour jog-thru session. There will be no practices on August 4, 8, and 17.
