December 2, 2010 New York Giants Injury Report – Steve Smith Practices on a Limited Basis: Not practicing yesterday were WR Hakeem Nicks (leg), OC Shaun O’Hara (foot), OL Shawn Andrews (back), and CB/Returner Will Blackmon (chest).

“Nothing to report (on Andrews),” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “It is more than muscle.” Coughlin was then asked if there is a fear that Andrews’ condition is related to his past problems. “

It is a concern,” replied Coughlin.

“Good progress, good progress (with Nicks),” said Coughlin. “They are not ready to let him run yet. But if he continues like he is, they will, I think, allow him to start to exercise shortly.”

WR Steve Smith (pectoral) returned to practice on a limited basis. “(Smith) did a little something – moved around, caught some balls – good progress,” said Coughlin. “(He was) limited. He took a couple of routes as a scout squad player.”

OL David Diehl (hamstring/hip) and DE Osi Umenyiora (knee) practiced on a limited basis. “Diehl worked,” said Coughlin. “Diehl has been getting a couple of snaps, does individual, gets a few snaps…We’ll see (if he is ready to go). It will be a process. We are going to have to see how he is today, how he is tomorrow and the whole deal.”

Umenyiora says he feels better now than he did earlier in the season. “I’m definitely feeling better,” Umenyiora said. “My knee’s feeling great, my hip’s feeling good. Everything’s feeling good right now.”

CB Aaron Ross (back) and CB Brian Jackson (hand) fully practiced. “(Ross) worked well,” said Coughlin. “I can see him getting better, getting stronger, feeling better about himself.”
