Two Teams Still in Play for Perry Fewell: As has been widely reported, four teams with head coaching vacancies were interested in Defensive Coordinator Perry Fewell as their potential new head coach. Two of those teams – the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers – are now out of the running for Fewell as those two teams have selected other candidates.

Two teams are still interested in Fewell. The Cleveland Browns interviewed him yesterday and the Denver Broncos interviewed him on Sunday.

Giants Sign Three More: The Giants have signed three more players to future/reserve contracts. The two players are HB Martell Mallett, OG/OT Ike Ndukwe, and DE Ayanga Okpokowuruk. The Giants have now signed 11 players to future/reserve contracts since the end of the season.

Mallett was originally signed by the Eagles in January 2010 after he was named the CFL’s “Most Outstanding Rookie” for 2009 when he played for the BC Lions. He did not make the Eagles’ 53-man roster but spent time on the Eagles’ and Browns’ practice squads in 2010.

Ndukwe was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Saints after the 2005 NFL Draft. He has spent time with the Saints (2005 Practice Squad), Redskins (2005-06), Ravens (2006-07), Dolphins (2007-08), and Chiefs (2009-10). The Chiefs waived Ndukwe before the 2010 season started.  In 2008 and 2009, for the Dolphins and Chiefs, he played in 28 games, starting 18.

Okpokowuruk was signed as undrafted rookie free agent by the Giants after the 2010 NFL Draft. The Giants waived him in July but re-signed him to the Practice Squad in December.
