January 2, 2012 New York Giants Injury Update: TE Jake Ballard (knee) has missed the last two games and LB Mark Herzlich (ankle) has missed the last five games. “They’re going to run tomorrow, (Ballard) and Herzlich both, and we’ll see,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin when asked about their status.

DE Justin Tuck said DE Osi Umenyiora (ankle) suffered “a little setback” during the Giants-Cowboys game, but Head Coach Tom Coughlin said he came out of the game “well.” Tuck also appeared to have injured his left shoulder in the game and had to leave the contest before later returning.

Notes: The Giants will are making their 31st postseason appearance, an NFL record.

Head Coach Tom Coughlin has led the Giants to the postseason for the fifth time, tying him with Bill Parcells for the most appearances by a Giants coach.

QB Eli Manning has eight 300-yard passing games this season and 22 for his career, the most in Giants’ history.

Manning finished the season with 15 fourth quarter touchdown passes, an NFL record.

Manning, who threw every one of the Giants’ passes this season, finished the season with Giants records in attempts (589), completions (359) and yards (4,933). His 29 touchdown passes were the second-highest total of his career (he had 31 last year) and his 16 interceptions were nine fewer than he threw in 2010.

WR Victor Cruz finished the season with a franchise-record 1,536 yards – 193 more than Amani Toomer’s former team record. Cruz’s 82 catches tie him with Toomer (2002) for second on the Giants single-season list behind Steve Smith’s 107 in 2009.

DE Jason Pierre-Paul finished the season with 16.5 sacks, the highest total by a Giant since Michael Strahan had 18.5 in 2003.

The Giants intercepted 20 passes this season, their highest total since the 2000 NFC champions had 20.

The Giants finished the season with an NFL-low 1,427 rushing yards (89.2 a game).
