August 21, 2012 New York Giants Injury Report – Shaun Rogers’ Season May Not Be Over: Not practicing yesterday were TE Travis Beckum (PUP – knee), OT Will Beatty (back), DE Adrian Tracy (hamstring), DT Chris Canty (PUP – knee), DT Marvin Austin (back), DT Shaun Rogers (blood clot), LB Michael Boley (hamstring), CB Terrell Thomas (knee), CB Jayron Hosley (toe), CB Michael Coe (hamstring), and CB Brandon Bing (hamstring).

The big news yesterday was that Rogers’ season may not be over.

“Well, there’s a ray of hope, that’s all,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “We’re going to hang in there as long as we can. I’m not going to be able to give you all the medical stuff. He is on his medication, there’s a chance that he could come back and play, is what we’ve been told. We’re just going to hang in there as long as we can. See if they can determine where he is and how fast he would be able to play and all that stuff…Nothing changed. He went and had another opinion and a little bit more positive, would be a good way to say it. Which we’re happy about…He is on a different kind of medication and that medication is supposedly something that can be dealt with after a certain amount of time. Whether it is five or six weeks, I’m not sure.”

Coughlin was asked if there was anything new on Boley. “No,” responded Coughlin. “They were going to run him today, I haven’t seen him. I’ll speak with him and see how he felt, but there’s nothing else that I can tell you.”

“I’m feeling alright,” said Boley. “I feel like it’s getting a little better. I tried running a little bit today. It’s still not where I need it to be for me to go out there and work…Yeah (it’s sore). I mean, it’s been a pain, obviously, since the beginning of camp. So, it’s pretty frustrating to actually be out this long with a hamstring injury. So, I’m just hoping that the docs can give me some good news in the next couple of days…I’m very concerned about getting back out there. This is valuable time that I’m missing. Using this time to get my work with the first group, build that chemistry early, and it’s kind of frustrating, to be honest…We’ll see (if I can play in the opener). Like I said, I’m just taking it one day at a time. I’m still trying to get better.”

Coughlin was also asked if there was any change in Beatty’s status. “No, unfortunately not,” said Coughlin.

HB Andre Brown (unknown) returned to practice.

WR Hakeem Nicks (foot) practiced for the second straight day. “Today I did a little bit more,” said Nicks. “Yesterday I was about fifty (percent), today I was about seventy-five (percent)…I feel like I’m right on schedule. No setbacks thus far, so we just have to keep going the way we’ve been going and just keep it simple and go out there and do what I need to do.”
