New York Giants Complete Fourth OTA Practice: The New York Giants held their fourth of 10 Organized Team Activity (OTA) practices on Monday. No live contact is allowed in OTA practices, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.

The media was not allowed to view Monday’s practice, but the Giants released the following details through their website, Giants.com:

  • When the Giants were in their nickel package on defense, CB Prince Amukamara and CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie played outside with CB Walter Thurmond playing the slot. The trio was glued to wide receivers all day long.
  • There were more throws down the field in today’s practice than we have seen during OTAs so far. The tight end was featured in the seam a bunch of times. TE Larry Donnell made one very nice catch, diving for and catching a pass near the sideline on a deep out. Later on in practice, Donnell couldn’t reel in a jumping catch on a ball thrown over his head down the seam.
  • LB Jon Beason’s defensive pre-snap calls to his teammates are loud and clear as he reads the offense and makes adjustments. Watching the chess match between he and Eli Manning is a lot of fun.
  • WR Odell Beckham Jr. showed a great change of direction on a pair of dig routes. He really ran the corner off before coming back for the football.

Giants.com also singled out the following:

  • Ryan Nassib: He reportedly made a couple of great throws during practice. During net drills, he put the ball through the net on a simulated sideline throw a good twenty yards down the field. He also hit WR Travis Harvey on a nice throw between the safety and cornerback in a zone defense.
  • CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: DRC showed off his tight man cover skills, first blowing up a quick wide receiver screen pass, and then stepping in front of an intended slant, almost coming up with the interception. He looks every bit the cover corner he was advertised as being.
  • Picking Up the Blitz: The defense was working on a couple of pressure blitz packages today, and the offensive line, along with the quarterbacks, did a good job of keeping blitzers out of the backfield.

Remaining New York Giants OTA practices:

  • June 3
  • June 5
  • June 9-10
  • June 12-13

The offseason program will culminate on June 17-19 with a mandatory, full-team mini-camp.
