CB Aaron Ross Signs with Baltimore Ravens: Unrestricted free agent cornerback Aaron Ross has signed with the Baltimore Ravens. The Giants had no intention of re-signing their former 1st round draft pick who played with the team from 2007-2011 and then again in 2013 after spending one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Ross was placed on Injured Reserve by the Giants in October 2013 with a back injury. Before going on IR, Ross played in four games with two starts, intercepting one pass.

Because of this move, we have updated the Transactions, 2014 Free Agent Scorecard, and Free Agent Losses sections of the website.

New York Giants Add S Will Hill and CB Charles James to Roster, CB Aaron Ross is Placed on IR: The Giants made four roster moves on Saturday:

  • As expected, S Will Hill was added to the 53-man roster from the Reserve/Suspended List. Hill had been serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s illegal drug policy.
  • Undrafted rookie free agent CB Charles James was signed to the 53-man roster from the Practice Squad.
  • CB Aaron Ross was placed on season-ending Injured Reserve with a back injury that he suffered in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

September 26, 2013 New York Giants Injury Report – Terrell Thomas Sits Out: Not practicing on Thursday were OC David Baas (neck), OG Chris Snee (hip), TE Adrien Robinson (foot), DE Justin Trattou (ankle), LB Jacquian Williams (knee), CB Corey Webster (hip), and CB Terrell Thomas (knee).

“(Baas and Snee are) trying like heck to get better and they’ve been kept inside,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin.

“Supposedly (Williams is) going to be able to practice tomorrow,” said Coughlin.

“I did think (Webster) might make it today, but that’s not the case,” said Coughlin.

OT David Diehl (thumb), LB Spencer Paysinger (hip), and S Cooper Taylor (shoulder) practiced on a limited basis.

“(Diehl is) doing well,” said Coughlin. “He’s had two days of practice now. He’s enthusiastic, trying to help as best he can…I don’t know (if he will play on Sunday) just yet.”

“(Practice) went pretty good,” Diehl said. “It’s just great to be back out there. I’ve been working my ass off. I did a little bit more today at practice than I did yesterday. As long as I keep making the progress that I’m making and feeling good and the doctors clear me to go on Sunday, we’ll see what happens. I’m going to go out there tomorrow and give it my best shot to see if I can be out there and help this football team compete.”

New York Giants Place FB Henry Hynoski on Injured Reserve; Sign FB John Conner: The Giants placed FB Henry Hynoski (fractured shoulder) on season-ending Injured Reserve on Wednesday.

To fill Hynoski’s vacant roster spot, the Giants signed FB John Connor, who has played with the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals, to reportedly a 2-year deal.

“We need a fullback, we need a lead blocker,” Head Coach Tom Coughlin said. “He is a physical guy. We think he’ll go up in the hole and clear the hole for the running back and we hope he’ll be a good pass protector and contribute on special teams as well.”

New York Giants Injury Report: Not practicing on Wednesday were OC David Baas (neck), OG Chris Snee (hip), TE Adrien Robinson (foot), LB Jacquian Williams (knee), and CB Corey Webster (hip).

OT David Diehl (thumb), LB Spencer Paysinger (hip), CB Terrell Thomas (knee), and S Cooper Taylor (shoulder) practiced on a limited basis.

“David Baas will not work today,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “Diehl is going to work. We’re going to have him in a limited capacity. We’ll see what he can do. Hynoski…You know about that. He’s going to go on IR. Spencer Paysinger is going to work. He’ll probably take three quarters of the work. Adrien Robinson is not going to work. Chris Snee is not going to work. It’s his hip. It’s not the operated or surgically-repaired hip. Cooper Taylor has a shoulder, but he’s doing better today. He’s a little bit stronger and he will work although he is to stay out of contact. We’re going to put Terrell on the list because he needs to be managed and probably one day a week or at some point in time we’ll have to cut the reps back for him so he has decent recovery time. Corey Webster feels better, but he’s not going to get clearance to go today. We expect Jacquian (Williams) to go tomorrow.”

September 20, 2013 New York Giants Injury Report: Not practicing on Friday were CB Corey Webster (hip), TE Adrien Robinson (foot), and OT David Diehl (thumb). Webster is officially listed as “doubtful” for the game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Robinson and Diehl will not play.

“Evidently (Webster) has an issue with his hip flexor, in that area somewhere,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin, “and he couldn’t practice yesterday and couldn’t practice today.”

QB Ryan Nassib (foot) and OG Brandon Mosley (back) practiced on a limited basis. Both players are officially listed as “probable” for the game.

WR Hakeem Nicks was excused from practice for personal reasons, but is expected to play on Sunday.

I love ‘want to’s.’ I want every guy to have the same passion that he did when somebody said, ‘Sign this and you can be a Giant.’ That’s what I’m looking for. This kid’s got it. He’s got it. Now he’s green as that grass right there, but I like that, too, to be honest with you. Every day is a new day. But he wants to, he wants to.”

August 13, 2013 New York Giants Training Camp Reports: The Giants held their 13th training camp practice on Tuesday afternoon at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The next practice is on Wednesday from 1:30-3:45PM. For a complete training camp schedule and Giants.com Q&A guide, see the Training Camp section of the website.

Injury Update – Low Ankle Sprain for Rolle: Not practicing on Tuesday were RB Da’Rel Scott (shoulder), WR Jerrel Jernigan (soreness), WR Brandon Collins (hamstring), OL James Brewer (concussion), OT Chris DeGeare (ankle), DE Damontre Moore (shoulder), CB Corey Webster (soreness), S Antrel Rolle (ankle), S Cooper Taylor (hamstring), FB Henry Hynoski (PUP – knee), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (PUP – back), and DT Markus Kuhn (PUP – knee).

The good news on Rolle, who is wearing a walking boot, is that his ankle injury is not a high ankle sprain. However, the injury appears to be a significant sprain with no immediate timetable for his return.

“It’s a pretty good sprain,” said Rolle. “I always said that if I can’t get up and I can’t walk off on my own, then it’s pretty bad. For right now, just from yesterday (to) today, it feels 10 times better.”

“(I want to be back) as soon as possible,” said Rolle. “There’s no timeframe at the moment but as soon as possible. I’m a hard worker, on the field and off the field. I’m not a fan of injuries, I really hate to even speak about this, but it happens in this game. I’m just going to do the best I can, try to get out there before the preseason’s over with and take it one day at a time.”

When asked if he might miss the regular-season opener, Rolle responded, “Oh no. No, I’m going to do whatever it takes to make sure. That’s not even a possibility.”

“It’s not a high ankle sprain, that’s for sure,” said Rolle. “I had a high ankle sprain before and there are no similarities at all. Thank God.”

Roster Moves: FB Ryan D’Imperio has decided to retire and the Giants have placed him on the Reserve/Retired List. To fill his roster spot, the Giants signed FB Ben Guidugli.

August 8, 2013 New York Giants Training Camp Reports: The Giants held their eleventh training camp practice on Thursday afternoon at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The next practice is on Monday from 1:30-3:45PM. For a complete training camp schedule and Giants.com Q&A guide, see the Training Camp section of the website.

Injury Update – Many to Miss Steelers Game: Not practicing on Thursday were DE Justin Tuck (back), OL Justin Pugh (concussion), OL James Brewer (concussion), RB Ryan Torain (concussion), S Cooper Taylor (hamstring), FB Henry Hynoski (PUP – knee), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (PUP – back), and DT Markus Kuhn (PUP – knee). Tuck might play against the Steelers on Saturday night, but the others will not.

When asked about Tuck, Head Coach Tom Coughlin responded, “I don’t know. Today was not what we wanted. He’s not quite as nifty and nimble as we had hoped. We’ll have to see. I actually thought he would work today.”

“It’s just a little tightness,” said Tuck. “I don’t think this is something that’s gonna be much more of an issue after this week…I’ve played in worse pain, I can tell you that. (We) just want to be smart and make sure it is nothing that will linger, that’s all.”

OG Chris Snee (hip) and CB Terrell Thomas (knee/hamstring) practiced on a limited basis. Coughlin said they will not play against the Steelers.
