Giants Sign RB Orleans Darkwa, Place RB Michael Cox on IR: The New York Giants placed running back Michael Cox on season-ending Injured Reserve on Wednesday. Cox fractured his lower leg in the Giants-Seahawks game on Sunday.

To fill that vacant roster spot, the Giants signed running back Orleans Darkwa off of the Practice Squad of the Miami Dolphins.

Darkwa was signed by the Dolphins as a rookie free agent after the 2014 NFL Draft. He played in four games in September before being waived in October and signed to the team’s Practice Squad. Darkwa has average size and overall athletic ability, but he is a steady, hard-working football player with good intangibles.

Because of these moves, we have updated the TransactionsRoster, and Depth Chart sections of the website.

Practice Squad Moves: The New York Giants have signed cornerback Josh Victorian to the Practice Squad. To make room for Victorian, the team has terminated the Practice Squad contract of safety Kyle Sebetic.

Victorian was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2011 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Since then, he has spent time with the Patriots (2011), Saints (2012), Steelers (2012-13), Texans (2013), and Lions (2014). He has played in 12 NFL games, four for the Steelers with one start in 2012 and eight for the Texans in 2013. Victorian has average size and lacks ideal overall athleticism, but he is a hard working, instinctive football player.

November 12, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: RB Peyton Hillis (concussion), DE Damontre Moore (shoulder), DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), and LB Jacquian Williams (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday.

“(Hillis is) not good,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “He and Jacquian are both still under doctor supervision. They were sent home today.”

I expect that Damontre will work tomorrow,” said Coughlin.

RB Rashad Jennings (knee), TE Daniel Fells (neck), DE Mathias Kiwanuka (knee), and S Nat Berhe (ankle) practiced on a limited basis.

“(Jennings) will give our team an outstanding lift,” said Coughlin. “He will practice – the term is going to be limited, but we had him in that capacity a week ago. We selectively worked him. We thought he did well under those circumstances a week ago, and I think we will progress throughout the course of this week and hopefully, without a setback, now he will be ready to go.”

When asked about OG Geoff Schwartz (toe), who is still on short-term Injured Reserve, Coughlin responded, “He’s going to get a lot of work this week. We have until next Monday to make that call. His activity has increased and we’ll do the same thing this week.”

Giants Claim CB Chykie Brown Off of Waivers: The New York Giants claimed cornerback Chykie Brown off of waivers from the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday. Brown was originally drafted by the Ravens in the 5th round of the 2011 NFL Draft. In four seasons with the Ravens, Brown played in 46 regular-season games with two starts. He has decent size and athletic ability but he struggled in Baltimore.

The Giants also officially placed CB Prince Amukamara on season-ending Injured Reserve.

Because of these moves, we have updated the Transactions, Roster, and Depth Chart sections of the website.

Practice Squad Moves: The New Orleans Saints signed offensive tackle Nick Becton off of the Giants’ Practice Squad. To fill that vacancy, the Giants signed safety Kyle Sebetic to the Practice Squad. Sebetic was originally signed by the Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2014 NFL Draft. The Giants waived him on August 26.

November 5, 2014 New York Giants Injury Report: RB Rashad Jennings (knee), OG Weston Richburg (ankle), DE Mathias Kiwanuka (knee), and P Steve Weatherford (ankle/back) did not practice on Wednesday.

“(Jennings has done running, straight ahead,” Head Coach Tom Coughlin said. “I think he started to do some cutting, but I don’t know if there is a full menu or diet of that coming. He is running though.”

“(Richburg) is, I think, progressing,” said Coughlin. “(Senior Vice President of  Medical Services) Ronnie (Barnes) said that he was pleased with the way he was and it is going to end up being day-to-day…They called it a sprain.”

CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back/hamstring) and DT Cullen Jenkins (calf) practiced on a limited basis.

The New York Giants made 15 roster moves on Tuesday in order to each the NFL roster limit of 75 players.

The Giants placed safety Cooper Taylor (foot) and wide receiver Marcus Harris (hip) on season-ending Injured Reserve. Taylor is expected to undergo surgery to repair the sesamoid bone in his foot. Harris will undergo surgery to repair the labrum in his hip. (Oddly, Harris’ injury had previously been described as a shoulder injury).

The Giants waived/injured linebacker Justin Anderson (hamstring) and defensive end Emmanuel Dieke (knee).

Lastly, the Giants waived the following 11 players:

  • WR Travis Harvey
  • TE Xavier Grimble (injury settlement)
  • TE Jerome Cunningham
  • OG John Sullen
  • DT Everett Dawkins
  • LB Spencer Adkins
  • CB Charles James
  • CB Ross Weaver
  • S C.J. Barnett
  • S Kyle Sebetic
  • PK Brandon McManus

(UPDATE: In a late move, the Giants have reportedly traded Brandon McManus to the Denver Broncos for a conditional draft pick, reportedly conditional 7th round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft).

Because of these moves, we have updated the Transactions, Roster, and Depth Chart sections of the website.

The final cuts to the 53-man roster must be made by 4:00PM on Saturday, August 30th, the day after the Giants-Patriots preseason finale.

New York Giants Sign Defensive Back Kyle Sebetic: The New York Giants have signed undrafted rookie free agent cornerback/safety Kyle Sebetic to fill the roster void created when the team waived safety Will Hill on Monday.

BBI Scouting Report on Kyle Sebetic:

The Giants signed Kyle Sebetic as an undrafted rookie free agent in June 2014. He tried out with the Giants and Chicago Bears in May after the draft but was not signed. Sebetic played cornerback at the University of Dayton, where he started 11 games his senior season and accrued 63 tackles and one interception. Sebetic may project to safety at the pro level. He is a bit of cornerback/safety ‘tweener as he lacks ideal size for safety and ideal speed for cornerback. He is a good hitter and tackler. Smart.

Because of this move, we have updated the Transactions, Roster, and Depth Chart sections of the website.
