Article on General Manager Jerry Reese and Head Coach Tom Coughlin: GM: Tom Has My Support by Ralph Vacchiano of The New York Daily News

Quotes: General Manager Jerry Reese on the left tackle position: “People are so worried about left tackle…I think that’s so overrated. People act like (Luke) Petitgout was the second coming. He never made the Pro Bowl, and I don’t think he ever was a first alternate. Now all of a sudden he’s the savior? That’s ridiculous. I don’t think we’re that bad off without Luke Petitgout. He was not a star left tackle. He was a solid left tackle on some occasions and other times he wasn’t. Luke has been a marginal player for a long time.”

Reese on who will replace Petitgout at left tackle: “Well, (David) Diehl is not penciled in at left tackle. First let’s get that straight. He’s not the left tackle yet. He’s going to be in a fight for that position with (Guy) Whimper. We’ll see how that works out. He’s not the left tackle yet. But we’re not afraid to play him at left tackle. We’ll see how that race is finished at the end of training camp.”

Reese on his biggest concern for the team: “The secondary is the most glaring spot for me.”
